Yeah Mikko is asking for $14mil a season and the Avs can't match that. Was going to be another Statsny situation if we had let it play out.

Necas shows promise though so there's that. But with Middlestat waffling and Landy still out, this hurts.

but if he's on line 2, he's a below average 2C

with the cap going up next year, seems short sighted. NHL profits are rolling in very well this year

imho paying Nuke 6.5m doomed a Rantanen deal

I think the plan is keeping him with McKinnon. I also know Nuke has his own issues before and gets dinged up quite a bit. But when he's playing, it coincides the team plays much better when he's around. He's a puck hound and his net presence are sorely being missed. The team is just a perimeter offense when he's not around. In some ways Lehkonen is like a mini Nuke to me. But the team play is night and day difference when Nuke is present . It sucks that the start of season he was suspended and the team sucks (on top of Georgiev was the goaltender). He came back they started playing well. Now he's out again the last couple cf weeks and they're sucking again.

Nuke being an alcoholic and making 'foreign' women pass out in the team hotel killed the deal.
