**MVP LeBron James & World Champion Miami HEAT 2012-2013 Thread**

This is the thing, even if Oden goes to Miami, can you even trust him to stay healthy? I mean it is VERY doubtful as he has played a grand total of 82 games since being drafted. Miami would have been MUCH better off getting Camby, but looks like that won't happen now.

Didn't want Camby. He can't play one-on-one defense and has his own injury issues.

May be. But, it must be lookin' somewhat positive for him since so many teams are trying to sign him. He doesn't need to play 30+ minutes for Heat. He can play 15-20 minutes and that may be enough. Plus, they will have the luxury to bring him along slowly through the regular season.

If Oden will ever play in NBA again...I really hope it happens with Heat.

So glad he signed with the Heat. I know it's a big IF...but IF he is healthy enough to play 20-24 minutes a game...I feel that will be enough to take on bigger teams. This is a HUGE signing for the Heat. I hope they take care of him during the season and get him ready for the post-season. No need to play him in back to back games all season and can bring him along slowly during the first 4 months of the season.

"Obviously the chance to play with the best player in the world and compete for a championship was a big selling point," Oden told me. "But more than that, what I really liked was how they thought I could really add something to their team. They've won back-to-back championships without me, so for them to pursue me as hard as they did meant a lot, especially given all that I've gone through.

Take care of them knees! Miami will need you in May and June.

2 years $2.1M deal. 2nd year is player option. Really truly this is a1 year 1M deal.

I have no idea if his knees can hold up or if he will be any use but for that I think it's easily worth it. Former #1 pick. 7'0" 275 lbs. He could give them some size and rebounding if he can stay healthy. Maybe he will be useless. But if he has anything left it's a good signing.

It's a great signing. Classic Low risk high reward. Also, I know it's a big IF but there are plenty of things that make me feel optimistic that he will be able to contribute at some stage.

a) A lot of teams wanted him...including the Spurs. Their FO is as good as any...and they do things very carefully.
b) Other team(s) were willing to pay him a more money. That means team(s) felt that there is a decent chance that he will play
c) Oden took less money. If he didn't truly believe he could play, he would have taken more money and run to the bank.
d) He did his workout on AstroTurf. I heard on radio...that encouraged several teams to really go after him.

From what I'm reading - Miami won't push him to play in November or December.

But best thing about this: You want to root for this guy. It makes me extremely happy that he's going to try this on Lebron's team.

I like the signing a lot. I hope it works out. Obviously there is a lot of natural talent there. He wouldn't have had the college career he had or be drafted where he was if there was no talent. So it's just a matter of can he stay healthy? Some guys have that problem over and over. Like Bynum or Yao Ming. Some are never healthy. But if he can be at least somewhat healthy there is no doubt there is talent there. I don't think anybody ever questioned that.
Oden and Lebron will be the first father/son duo in NBa history
