interesting thought heard on the colin cowherd show re lakers chances for LeBron in 2014--why would LeBron want to build kobe's legacy by giving him 2 more championships?

I think it's been made very clear that Bron doesn't care so much about the minute details of legacies, especially his own. Boy just wants to win and have fun doing it.

Regardless, don't think Bron is coming out here anyways.

Lebron may be giving that vibe earlier in his career...but he is all about legacy right now. He has said he wants to be the greatest player of all time. That's his goal. Yes, he does not believe rings will be the be-all end-all when it comes to defining one's legacy (rightfully so)...but after what Jordan said, I've no doubt Lebron wants to win chips so no one can use that argument against him.

I also doubt Lebron comes to Lakers. He's making his legacy in Miami and I believe he'll only consider leaving Miami for Cleveland.

I would be EXTREMELY shocked if he went to LA. I don't think he wants to go through all of that again. Especially if Vino is still there. Because then Bron would hear the, "he had to go and get Kobe's help in LA to win a ring," etc.

Plus Laker fans hate him. It should remain that way.

He should stay in South Beach and cement his legacy there. It would be super weird if he went back to Cleveland. Remember how much Dan Gilbert hated him for a couple of days lol

Agreed. But I also agree with 4ML in that if he leaves Miami, he'll probably go to Cleveland. I don't see LA happening.
Nick Young to the Lakers, per agent Mark Bartelstein.

Wow, I wonder if that means it was for the vet's minimum or for the rest of the MMLE (if we had any left)...

Regardless, that's a real back-up 2, the first time we've had one in FOREVER...awesome pickup.
In other news, Nick Young just signed with the Lakers for the vet minimum. Really nice pickup for that price.

With a bit more luck on the injury front and a lot more chemistry (which I think will happen with Dwight gone after hearing about everything that went down last year, post-mortem), this might be a decent, enjoyable squad next year. I think Blake gets traded too.

PG: Steve Nash, Jordan Farmar
SG: Kobe Bryant, Steve Blake
SF: Nick Young, Metta World Peace?
PF: Jordan Hill, Ryan Kelly
C: Pau Gasol, Chris Kaman

Had he not called Lebron - I'd agree with you. I read Dan called him later and they talked it out. Now, that may be simply because Dan realized that he's pretty good friends with Irving and he doesn't want Lebron influencing him to leave Cleveland. He did congratulate Lebron on winning a title, so who knows what their relationship is like now.

But, I agree - if Riley is there, I do expect Lebron to stay put. Cleveland has proven over and over that they're an incompetent bunch, and if I'm Lebron - I'm not putting my career in their hands. Now, if Waiters, Bennett and Bynum play well next year...even Cleveland's FO can't f**k up title runs with Lebron on that roster.

Good fit for D'Antoni's team. No defense and pretty good offense. Solid pickup for minimum.

I've been wondering what Blake could fetch on the market...what you think? I was hoping if not a 1st rounder in 2014/2015 then at least a serviceable SF? I don't think Nick is our answer at the 3 just like I don't think Kelly is our answer at the backup 4. Young would be a great backup 2 however.

I don't think Kelly sees the court unless there's an injury, unless he really impresses in training camp. He might, because he's 6'11" and can shoot, and D'Antoni will love that, but Pau/Hill/Kaman will probably take all of the PF & C minutes.

I think Blake might be able to fetch a guy like CJ Miles from Cleveland, or Brandon Rush from Utah. More likely, I think he's tradable at the deadline to someone like Memphis or Golden State in exchange for a trade exception & maybe a 2nd round pick.

Young isn't the answer at the 3, but I think he'd fit in fine at that spot with MDA. Or put Kobe there. This squad's gonna put up 110 points on a regular basis...even though they might give up 115.

"As a businessman the goal is always to not take a pay cut," Bryant said. "But ..."

The Lakers had intended to approach Bryant about an extension this summer, league sources said, but those plans were tabled until Bryant got further into his rehabilitation from Achilles tendon surgery in April. Bryant said he didn't intend to approach the Lakers about an extension until "the dust settled" on their other business this summer.

Earlier Tuesday, Bryant was asked by Lakers Nation, a fan website, if he would take a huge pay cut, possibly to a one-year minimum salary at $1.45 million, to stay with the Lakers. Bryant later told ESPN that since negotiations have yet to begin, it was pointless to bring up a number that he'd be willing to play for.
^That's a little more encouraging. We'll see what happens.
Great signing for the min
