I see a lot of "ifs" there man. Yeah, well IF Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright pitch the way both you and I know they can, you guys are f**ked.

lol Wainwright hasnt been the ace he used to be in quite some time.

Cain/Bumgarner/Lincecum/Vogelsong > Carpenter/Wainwright/Lohse/Lynn

Especially now that Lincecum is back to throwing strikes.

Carp seems almost unbeatable in the playoffs, but I dont think you have anyone else that scares anyone.

We just beat a team that is basically a better version of STL, just less experienced. If we split the first 2, i think we take 2 of 3 in STL. Then its up to taking 1 of 2 at home, and i like those odds. Should be another nail biting series.

Cain - 16-5 2.79 ERA 193K 1.09 WHIP
Bumgarner - 16-11 3.39 ERA 191K 1.11 WHIP
Lincecum - 10-15 5.18 ERA 190K 1.47 WHIP
Vogelsong - 14-9 3.37 ERA 158 K 1.23 WHIP

Wainwright - 14-13 3.94 ERA 184 K 1.25 WHIP
Lynn - 18-7 3.78 ERA 180K 1.32 WHIP
Lohse - 16-3 2.86 ERA 143K 1.09 WHIP
Carpenter = Carpenter

So, basically, your big bad ace Matt Cain is Kyle Lohse w/ more Ks. But Lohse is someone you're not even worried about.

Nobody else scares anyone. Lol, alright. I'm bookmarking this page of the thread to get back to you in a few days.

LOL, the fact that you just posted Win totals automatically disqualifies your argument.

You've been disqualified for a while now man. I'm posting their stats. You're just throwing out s**t like "oh, Lincecum is throwing strikes now", "we had the 2nd best offense in the 2nd half" Don't look at wins if you don't want to...your statements are still hilarious.

Posting Wins, ERA, and WHIP doesnt give you a legit argument.

And im not sure what good that even did for your case. Cain and Lohse had similar statistical years, but Bumgarner and Vogelsong were better than Wainwright and Lynn in those cats. Carp=Carp isnt even a reason. I could just say Cain=Cain, Bumgarner=Bumgarner, Lincecum=Lincecum, and ignore all stats and just endorse them based on their experience and ability.

Theres really no point in arguing this anyways, since were both going to side with our teams, neither will change any minds, and the teams are evenly matched overall, including both being "on a roll".

Its the playoffs.

Stats dont matter.

It's going to come down to who pitches better and who plays the cleanest game.

I will concede that the game we face Carp is likely a loss. Thats why game 1 tomorrow is so huge. we just need a split in my mind.

Somehow, our team totally lacks confidence when hitting at home, but wakes up big time on the road. We scored the 2nd most runs in baseball on the road with 410, behind only the Angels. 2nd most hits as well. Plus as many have stated, we didnt lose a road series in the entire 2nd half until the final one of the year in LA, when we rested guys.

I think we have a decent shot at this, but who knows.

Funny how that works out because the Cardinals are 50-31 at home and 38-43 on the road.

Considering how both teams are pretty evenly matched overall, and both are coming into this as kind of the "team on fire" the other playoff teams worry about, its a bit unpredictable. Plus among all the other factors like the home/road splits, its going to be two equal forces colliding head on. Should make for a crazy series.
You know scuturo hit like .340 after coming to the giants right? Had like the second most hits in BASEBALL.

Crawford hit .300 in his last like 50 games.

Irrelevant though. We will both argue til we are blue in the face

Go Niners.

Kozma has also been hitting everything lately. Descalso had a pretty good game last night too. Not gonna be bragging about them, though.

The Cardinals are legit. This is going to be a hell of a match-up. The last two World champions. My fellow Giants fans who aren't giving the Cards respect need to check their egos - we're heading for a win-at-all-costs series here.
I am starting to think I may have to root for the cards in this series

Totally agree. Not sure who would think it would be easy. They can pitch and hit, and have playoff experience. It will be tough.

Cubs fans can't root for the cardinals. It's against the rules.
