Cubs getting a little mouthy with the Cardinals. They've outplayed the Cardinals over the last few weeks. Today they hit Matt Holliday in the head.
Link to Holliday hit in the head
Then Cardinals retaliate
Throw behind Rizzo
Then Joe Maddon wants to run his mouth after the game

Love how throwing at Holliday's head was CLEARLY a mistake, but Belisle throwing behind Rizzo was CLEARLY intended. Lol ok. Hit our #3 hitter in the head with a fastball and expect no retaliation.
Gonna be a fun series and end to season. Leaving for Chicago tomorrow morning.

Cards are looking very vulnerable right now. They have the best record in the league but its all about who is the hot team going into the playoffs. I dont know if they will hit well enough to be honest given the injuries. Since the AS break only Miami and Atlanta have lower OPS than the Cardinals in the NL. Wong and Molina are awful at the plate right now.
I think its going to be another year in the NL where the team with the best record in the league doesnt win it.

I think Joe Madden is the best manager who will be in the playoffs from the NL, so this may be the Cubs year. Can't count the Mets out either with their pitching. Molina really wearing down since he's off the Gigi juice.

I know James will disagree and I would expect him to. But.. I actually would rank the Cards as the 5th best team going into the playoffs. Now, if the Cards had a healthy Holiday, Wainwright, and Grichuk I would have a much different opinion but right now the Mets, Cubs, Dodgers, and Pirates are all healthier and stronger.

I read the other day that after Wainwright was talking about his postseason comeback, Mozeliak afterwards was kind of like "...yeah thats not happening."
Good call.

Although this season isn't looking too bright after the Molina injury. Guy is irreplaceable.

Uh what? He is the most irreplaceable player in baseball.
Thankfully he should be back by playoff time.
Cardinals up 6-0 now. Matt Carpenter with 26 HRs now.
Watch ANY reporter outside of the general SF Giant homer list you follow and you'll see.

Cards should be able to win without him, if they don't it's an epic fail.

You have to get over that, he's been a really good ballplayer but is on the downside for sure.
