I think it'll be close

I actually think Terry Collins will be in the race as well. All are deserving but Collins and Maddon will be taking teams to the playoffs that most did not think would get there.

1) Maddon
2) Collins
3) Matheny

What puts Maddon and Collins ahead of Matheny for you? I think its pretty ridiculous what Matheny has had to overcome this year.

Wainwright gone for most of the year. Holliday gone for most of the year. Your 8th inning set up Walden guy gone for most of the year. Injuries to Molina, Grichuk, Jay, Adams, Garcia. Still his team is 40 games above .500.

I think Maddon will win, Matheny and Collins either one could go 2-3. I think Maddon is right there with Bochy at being consistently the best in baseball. Collins doesn't impress me but being in NY and with the Mets having a good year no doubt he will get a lot of votes. I like Matheny, but it was pretty much expected that the Cardinals would do well with the talent on the team...and yes he's done a good job keeping the team focused and on track this year with the injuries.

Has Bochy ever won a manager of the year?

Right, a catcher hitting .270 with 4 HR is the most irreplaceable player in baseball.

Ask anybody that actually knows baseball and they'll tell you the same. I knew mentioning Molina's name would bring you out.

Saying ridiculous and untrue things will usually draw a comment from me.

Molina is the heart and soul of your team. I get it. But if you lost Molina for the year, you could still win the WS. Itd be less likely, but you could. There are teams who rely more heavily on players, who would be done without them.

I have to agree with 99. I can think of several players that are more valuable and irreplaceable than Molina. We aren't talking about the Yadi of a few years ago.

His defense and control of the pitching staff is still there. Ability to call a game. He is in there more innings than any catcher. Your casual fan or even someone who doesn't watch the Cardinals games won't see that. He is the only catcher in baseball with a catchers ERA below 3. (2.80). He has allowed the fewest stolen bases of any catcher. Just shuts down the running game. Its easy to sit there and say OH HE ONLY HAS 4 HOME RUNS! But there is so much more going on that he controls. Not gonna sit here and argue though because we already know Buster Posey is the greatest baseball player of all time. Right?

No one said that Posey is the greatest player of all time. But, he is a better player than Molina in 2015 and more valuable to the Giants success than Molina is to the Cards in my opinion. The Giants have fewer star players than the Cards yet with Posey have won 3 WS in 5 years. When he was out in 2011 they sucked big time. So you can go on and on about Molina and claim thats all we do about Posey. I think thats funny by the way. Kind of like you claim we are homers and that you arent.

Also, no one is saying that Molina isnt a big part of the Cardinals and not valuable. I just think to say that he is THE MOST iirreplaceable player in all of baseball is far fetched in 2015.

Just have to agree to disagree then.

I pretty much think that anybody outside of the most blind of Cardinal fans and their Midwest Fox Sports voice would disagree with you that the 2015 version of Molina is the most irreplaceable player in baseball. In fact it's laughable.

I pretty much think anybody outside of this forum alone would agree with me. Check out www.reddit.com/r/baseball. Level headed baseball fans instead of biased Giant fans that are always pissed at Molina because he played during the Posey era.

I didn't say one word about Posey...why do you always go there when anyone says something about Molina that gets your sphincter all tightened up?

Regardless, calling the 2015 version of Molina the most irreplaceable player in baseball is just a ridiculous statement. I'm sure you are the most level headed fan of anyone on here.

Lol what? You're in the Cardinals thread man. I'm here just talking baseball stating my and many others opinion. Since then, 3 upset Giant fans came in calling me ridiculous.

Its called an opinion. Sorry you're so bent out of shape over it.

We know, you're a pilot.

At least you got one thing right.

Really? Which 3 called you ridiculous? Or maybe you got that wrong.

He probably was talking about just me and exaggerated, although calling a statement ridiculous (which is what I did) is not calling a person ridiculous. There is a big difference.

I never said that Matheny wasnt deserving. In fact, I said they all were. But reality is this.. the Cards have been in the playoffs every year and in the WS twice in the past 4. They are expected to be there. The Mets and Cubs are a different story and voters usually reward managers for teams that are not expected to win and do.

I dont know. I never said anything was ridiculous but I did say it was a bit far fetched to call Molina the most irrelaceable player in 2015.

A bit far fetched is being polite. I guess I have to work on my politeness skills.

My apologies John. You didn't say that.

Back on subject of the Cardinals: Wacha is concerning me lately. Him and Lance Lynn haven't been sharp lately. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see John Lackey or Jaime Garcia (based on their success at home compared to away) starting Game 1 of the playoffs.

Game 1: Lackey (home)
Game 2: Garcia (home)
Game 3: Wacha (road)
Game 4: Martinez (road)
Game 5: Lackey (home)

Gonna be some tough calls on who to leave off the post season roster....I mostly agree with this, but would take Matt Adams over Brandon Moss/Mark Reynolds
