I'm salty and proud of it.
At least I have a vested interest come playoff time.
Cant blame the Dodgers management though. I blame MLB for creating a system where the big markets can have payrolls 3-4 times more than the lowest payroll teams. One thing about the Dodgers, they have spent their money wisely for the most part (League was obviously an exception). Their big contracts are for players that are still young players. They are getting incredible value for the buck for guys like Puig and Rhu. Compare that to the Angels and Yankees who spend big money on aging players on the decline.
I hate to say it but the Dodgers are going to be very good for quite awhile.

This is why I'm not a bigger fan of baseball. I was a big Yankees fan when I was a kid, and I still root for them with passing interest, but I just can't get too invested in this system. I like the sport and played Little League for like 5 years as a kid, but the MLB framework really turns me off.
BTW, last year you were killing the Dodgers for moves they made, saying it would be a franchise killer because of the $$$.

I think I criticized the Dodgers for the move for Beckett, Crawford, and Gonzo. I thought they took on way too much money for 2 guys with major question marks. I also laughed at the League signing. However, I dont think you will me ripping the Dodgers for any other move.
Also, I didnt know the Dodgers were going to get the biggest local TV Deal ever. Bottom line is this............ with the money they have they can take risks on players and screw up one or 2. Other franchises could NEVER have taken those Sox players or given huge money to an unproven guy like Puig. Baseball should put all of the international players in the regular draft and put in a salary cap. That way the rich teams cant just spend spend spend.

Agreed as far as MLB goes. Angels have been doing it without success, I guess I wish the dodgers could follow that example instead.
The trade with the Red Sox was still horrible imo, and I maintain that my dog could build a winner with that kind of financial backing. Make a mistake? Who cares? Buy someone else.

Ya, the local TV deal was the angle that I was arguing last year. After the Lakers got their deal with TWC and the Dodger deal was up for negotiation the next year, the writing was on the wall. The $$$ involved in that made guys like Beckett, Crawford, & Gonzo look like chump change. Baseball's gotta change this system, but the Dodgers are gonna be the "best team money can buy" for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if this offseason someone like Mark Ellis turned into Robinson Cano, or AJ Ellis became Brian McCann.

Honest question, wasn't this thread started as a troll thread? Kind of like a joke because this is a Bay Area based website? It turned into a real Dodger thread? That's kinda funny
Also, the dodger and bandwagon dodger fans have to put up with a s**t ton of giants fans coming on here talking s**t. It's a sf 49er website. What do you expect? If I went on a Laker site and started a SF Giants thread I'd expect the same

I don't care what their payroll is...42-8 is tied for the best 50 game stretch in the last 100 years, and the best stretch of baseball that anyone here has seen in their lifetime outside of Rubber.

I could build a playoff team with that payroll

Yet it means absolutely nothing unless they win it all. Its all about timing.
Come Sept. the Dodgers will begin to coast and rest players, which is just part of winning the division by a good margin. If they arent rolling and used to the high octane games, its very easy to blow a best of 5 series to a hot wild card team. If the Giants didnt get a gift error by Scott Rolen in game 3 of the Cincy series last year, they wouldve gone down in that exact way in 3 games.

Of course, it's baseball, a sport where winning 58% of your games makes you one of the best teams in the league. It's the only major sport you can say that about.
But they can't win the WS in August. Duly noted that this means nothing without a title.
