Where's Kanter when we need him?

I wonder how long John Stockton's career assists and steals records will last? Hes WAY ahead of any active player, and anyone even remotely close is in the twilight of their career.

I get tired of hearing about how Stockton was overrated.

I'm kinda curious about that too. Paul outs up good numbers but he'd have to stick around for awhile to get close. I don't see anyone currently in the league getting near them though.

Pretty sad to think that this team would be in playoff contention and probably in, if they played in the East.

Paul isnt even at 7,000 yet, and Stockton is sitting at 15,806. He would have to double his career total. I think both Stocktons records are safe for at least 10-15 more years for sure.

Well what I meant when I said for awhile is play till he's like 44. lol Deron could have got to 10,000 I think if he had stuck around in Utah but his assist total has dropped significantly since he went to the Nets. I dunno I think his assist record for sure will stand up for a really long time or maybe forever because few players have been as durable throughout an entire career like Stockton was especially PGs.

Speaking of players sticking around in Utah, I will forever be annoyed at Karl Malone's decision to chase a title in LA, when he could've finished his entire career in Utah and possibly passed Kareem as the number 1 all time scorer.

Malone is my all time favorite player, but he was never very bright. Hundreds of players have rings, but very few spend entire careers with one team, and only 1 can call himself the scoring leader in NBA history.

I would say staying in Utah was more important than a title.

I literally just watched the Sportscentury on him and the end of it is obviously about his time in LA and how he regretted it because of all the drama between Shaq and Kobe. Just so sad watching those several minutes because as you said he could have easily passed Kareem and put that record damn near out of reach of anyone else if he had stayed. Plus that Jazz team wasn't that bad that year despite being picked to be the worst roster ever going into the season. I think they finished 42-40 so with Karl we probably would've gotten into the playoffs and been at least a 5 seed.

Karl needed to hire a personal PR guy to make decisions for him.

It was so fitting and so great to find out that Malone and Charles Barkley were roommates at the World University Games in 1982. Theyre two peas in a pod. They should have their own radio show. There would be cringe worthy comments left and right. Im pretty sure they would set some kind of ratings record for total listeners.

Grantland article on how effective Gobert has been.

What this team needs is a guy like Wes Matthews, Kyle Korver, or Khris Middleton. Having a good 3pt shooter who can also defend would be such a great addition. I absolutely love the direction of this team

Definitely a good read. Crazy to think how effective he is. And I also agree with the shooter part but Rodney has hit something like 7 out of his last 9. I can see him possibly becoming that guy if he can stay on the court.

Gaining respect one team at a time.
According to various reports surfacing yesterday, the Utah Jazz have signed power forward Jerrelle Benimon to a 10-day contract. The six-foot-eight, 245-pound big man comes via call-up from Utah's D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede. Meanwhile, the 10-day contracts of Bryce Cotton and Jack Cooley are set to expire today.

Benimon's talents prompted selection to play in the D-League All-Star Game last month. In his time with Idaho, the former Twoson Tiger displayed an incredible all-around game, averaging nearly 20 points, 10.6 rebounds, over four assists, one block and one steal per game. In the Stampede's last game versus Rio Grande Valley, Benimon put up a line of 24 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists.
