Exactly what I was thinking! Why take that chance with that kicker, who I think was something like 7-13 on FGs up to that point. Go for the touchdown or just get it as close to the goal line as possible to make that kick is as easy as possible.

Cal has a decent team. Going into the season and now being in the ACC, you had to figure they were going to be in some close, dogfight games. Recruit a damn kicker that can put it through the uprights with some good consistency. Put a priority on that and see it pay dividends in these close games.
