the only team i can recall that buying players worked out for them was the yankees, but iirc, weren't most of their core players came up through the organization?

Hey,

I went back and forth with a Packers fan in high school and I still do when I see him.

The Cowboys made my blood boil; had a friend who was a Cowboys fan.
Yankees best years were before they went spend crazy. Only 1 WS to show for all that spending.
The train wreck is out.

He was a lucky S-- in Game 4.

of course im a Wacha fan, but no clue how he is starting over Miller tomorrow

I would have started them both in this series and put Lynn in the pen. The rooks were both great this year.

Matheny had to fit Lynn in some how. He was great at home and awful on the road. I believe his plan was to do Wainwright/Lynn/Kelly/Wacha/Wainwright and use Miller as long relief. I still believe the nation is going to see how good Wacha really is tomorrow. Kid has incredible stuff. Our other top pitching prospect is ready as well. Cards win tomorrow and Waino finishes it off in STL.

No he didnt. He could have used Wainwright, Kelly, Wacha, and Miller and Lynn could have come out of the pen. Lynn is not someone I would want starting game 2 of any series.

Would not have Wacha starting a game
Hey Rob... what say you now???

This is the ultimate reason why I hate the Yankees-their spending and how it messed up baseball economics. It's a good thing small market clubs show you the importance of developing the farm system.

The practice of spending by the Yankees caught up to them and the quality in their farm system sucks.

Niner Talk called, they said the Giants season is over and time to go Niner.
The next 9 Dodgers out are now must-see.

I'm sure you wish that was the case, but John has been a staple in these MLB threads for years. Doubt he is going anywhere anytime soon.
