FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 THREAD

Look at the level of players on England and Argentina, now look at who Donovan has played with. When Donovan is the only scoring threat with most of the chances, of course he's going to score. Messi and Rooney haven't needed to score every goal for their countries. They've had other players that are more than capable of scoring.

Terrible excuse. Argentina and England have both sucked in the World Cup with them on their roster. They have both done nothing to help their respective teams in the knockout rounds. Donovan made it to the Quarterfinals in 2002, maybe should have been the Semis if a handball on the line was actually called.

'06 Messi was hurt in the lead up to the World Cup and he was 18 years old.
Argentina won gold in 08 Olympics with Messi.
In '10 world cup he was nominated for the Golden Ball (doesn't sound like he was at fault for Argentina)

WTF does the meaningless 2008 Olympics have to do with anything in this thread? Who the f.uck even knows or cares who has won the Men's Soccer Olympics? I might as well bring up the USA's run in the 2009 Confederations Cup if you are bringing the Olympics up. My gosh you are backtracking hard. Here are some real matches that actually mattered and they disappeared.

2006 World Cup Quarters: Germany beats Argentina 1-1 (4-2 Pen)
2006 World Cup Quarters: Portugal beats England 0-0 (3-1 Pen)
2010 World Cup Rof16: Germany beats England 4-1
2010 World Cup Quarters: Germany beats Argentina 4-0

0 goals scored by either player in those 4 games when they needed it most.... just keep backtracking.

Backtracking? Stop trying to instigate things. And a gold in the Olympics, is still a gold. And you mock the Olympics, yet we can't even qualify for it. Stop your love fest of Donovan, and just realize he's a washed up, overrated American soccer player and get back to enjoying the games.

Nigeria won Gold in 1996. Nigeria. Keep backtracking. The fact that you mention the Olympics in a World Cup Final thread is hilarious. Donovan has been great in the Worlds biggest stage for soccer, hardly overrated.

I'm not sure you know what backtracking even means. But I'm done arguing. Anyone who mentions Donovan with Rooney and Messi in the same sentence surely isn't worth my time. Enjoy your World Cup buddy.

Nope.... One team is trying to score on the other team by kicking a ball into the net. That's all I understand about it.
Wow... Ivory Coast just scored to goals within the last 5 minutes or so to go up 2-1 on Japan

Edit: they just said it was the fastest 2 goals so far in the tournament... It took 100 seconds for both

Drogba effect. Still don't see why he wasn't starting.
Does every single African team fake major injuries when they take the lead?

Can you give me an example of when the US team had players with fake injuries carted off on a stretcher in a World Cup Final?

Lol this. Don't feed the troll.

Messi will go down as one of the greatest players of all time. Rooney is a bit over-rated by British media but he's still several times better than Donovan. You can't look at 8-9 games and reach a conclusion from that. That's idiotic. At his best - Rooney has dominated EPL. Some of the teams in EPL and Champions League are better than every WC team.

When did I say Donovan was better than Messi or Rooney?

Then what is your point? You compared their stats over 8-9 matches. I don't understand what you're trying to imply if not that.
