maybe not so much in this thread but on Facebook and just basic chatter, it seems everyone's confidence just skyrocketed. I agree that our chances improved dramatically though

Well someone had to at least draw the Germany/Portugal game and it being the opening match there was a very good chance with these two sides that someone was going to walk away with 3 points. I think the scoreline is slightly inflating the storyline. If Germany won this game 1-0 this would be a totally different conversation. Same thing if Portugal won 1-0. A 4-0 differential is not something you rest your chances on in the group of death. Portugal could easily beat Ghana and US. Germany could easily put up 4 on the US. Ghana could easily beat or draw the US. Not trying to be a debbie downer but I'm going to wait till after Ghana before I start to get excited. The situation is still very liquid despite a -4 differential for Portugal.

it's funny to me that people are real quick to count out Spain and Portugal after beatdowns in their first game. They'll slap you around before you even notice it next time out. It's STILL the group of death.
