I dont think there is any question about it. Beane screwed with team chemistry and took a huge bat out of their lineup. This team was like 28 games over .500.

A's were far and away the best team in baseball

Yea but they were over achieving. Their roster was garb, and was even worse after the trade. They were gonna come back to earth at some point

This. That is the most disgraceful thing about it all. He's retiring too.

Right there with you, but add in the Sharks and suns (never got into bball til moving to phx).
Incredible game. Another classic Chokeland A's performance.

The Royals are my AL team, so I'm thrilled to finally see them succeed. KC has waited a long time for this.
Incredible game last night. Happy for the Royals fans who waited so many years. Very cool.
one of the best baseball games i've seen.. holy hell

Word. So much talent, very little (nonexistent) killers instinct/mentality.

maybe he shouldn't have played for s**tty teams

Poor Bobby Higginson waited his whole career to play on a team with a winning season and it never happened.

Not like he really had much of a choice. My problem is that there were spots where Melvin could, and should, have put him in the game. In the 9th with runners and one out, he should have given him a shot right then and there. I get that he played the lefty-righty game and opted for Nate Freiman, but sometimes you cant account for the emotion of it being your first playoff game ever. He may have come through. The Royals were riding the wave of emotion, and willed their way to a win. Credit to them, but I thought Melvin really dropped the ball there.

uh didn't he sign with a couple teams as a free agent?

Dunn was just an ok player who either hit a home run or struck out. I'd say if he went into that game he strikes out
lol

at least he was part of a playoff teams game

Bobby never had a winning season in his 10 years as a Tigers
now that is sad

Eh, Dunn was a player everyone will remember from this generation. One of the premier big power hitters. He deserved to play in at least 1 playoff game.

I just dont understand how he wasnt put into the game at all. In 12 innings. The wind was blowing out, and you have a guy that could put one out of the stadium with men on base, and you dont use that option? Its not like it wouldve been a pity AB from Melvin. He couldve helped them win. Melvin either didnt care about getting Dunn that playoff AB, or he was totally out of it.

Dunn was exactly what you said, but still after a 14 year career you'd at least want the guy to experience the playoffs ONCE
