You seriously think people are gonna have good enough reflexes to protect their kids or whoever when a ball is coming off a bat at 100 mph every time? People should be able to feel safe wherever they are in the stands. What is the netting gonna hurt? Oh some dips**t cant reach over and grab a ball? Thats what the ballboys are for. It wouldn't hurt the game or experience for the fans at all.

It ruins the view of the field. Its not MLB's job to protect every area of the stands. Baseball was fine for 140 years until people started looking at their phones and deciding the 3B line was a great place to sit your 3 year old. Ive seen people get smashed in the face by BP homers in the bleachers. Theres just a certain level of risk you have to weigh when attending a game.

I would never take my 3 year old to a game and sit in those sections. I dont need to demand that baseball net everything off so I can sit my child wherever. I just accept the fact that were not sitting there until hes older. Every generation before this one seemed to understand that concept of life.

Sometimes you have to protect people from themselves. We have plenty of ways that we do that already in our society.

Some child shouldnt pay the price bc their dumbass parent decided its okay to sit behind 3rd base.

Children shouldn't pay the price for anything their stupid parents' do, but you cant safeguard everything. What if a parent isn't paying attention and their kid falls down the steps? The kid shouldn't be put in that situation by their parents, but the stadium shouldn't be expected to prevent that either. People need to be accountable for their kids' safety.

This recent generation seems to be the first who is too selfish to know better, and is too distracted by their phones. This was never an issue in the previous 140 years, and there was less netting.

I agree with 99. Too many people today want to blame others for mistakes that they made. In this case, it is the parent's fault for bringing their young child into an area of the park where you HAVE to be diligent and pay attention. It sucks completely that this poor girl endured her injuries and may possibly have lifelong issues because of it. But, when are people gonna take responsibility for their own actions?

In America, there are an extreme amount of safeguards and warnings everywhere. Yet, whenever something unfortunate happens, the first thing people think about is suing for stupidity on their own part.
LOL MLB might have sent over a batch of baseballs that were a little too "juiced." 24 runs in 7 innings in London.
lol 27 runs yanks vs sox what a joke
Angel Hernandez was announced as the ump right before the London game and he was soundly booed lol.

This was a baseball incident, not the Fukushima nuclear meltdown lol.

Painfully obvious that MLB is making the balls different to boost scoring and HR now after the purchase of Rawlings. Baseball is on pace to break last years all time total HR record...by 1,000! Insane.

You'd think there was a more subtle way to influence the game than this. I bet all the games in London have these special balls to help ensure that new European fans are captivated.
50 runs in the 2 games in London so far.

They finally admitted last week that the core of the baseball has caused it to have less drag due to advances in technology improving the tightness of it.

People have been saying this for years, and all the baseball purists in the media and fans were calling people idiots for believing this. They tried acting like mlb hitters are so much better now.

lol ya think

For the first time in history, Major League Baseball is experimenting with using the big-league ball in both the PCL and International Leagues this season, leading to unintended consequences.
Late last month, the Boston Globe reported home runs had increased by as much as 50% compared to the same amount of plate appearances in the International League as last season.
