I am on the fence about it. Make the pitcher pay for a wild pitch. You want to bounce the ball on an 0-2 count you risk losing the batter.

Also you want to put a below average catcher back there for their offense, you may pay the price.


But there is tradition, and i am big on that.

I'm not a fan of it for a lot of reasons not just tradition. Every park is different size as well. Some have bricks in the back wall.

People have been pushing baseball to make changes for years but cant tell you what the problem is.

I HATE it. There is no way this will ever actually be a rule in the major leagues anyway.

Put me in the hate it group. Pitcher is punished enough by it being a ball and any runner already on advancing. Getting on base should be earned. I don't view this as being earned.

Opens the door to suicide steals too. 1 out, guy on first? Have guy steal 2nd and batter go for first. They may go to 1st and runner advances, might go to 2nd and be late and then both runners on or might just get the guy going to 2nd and offense only loses an out. Do it with a speed runner on and pitcher batting or something. Better than have pitcher actually hit.

Guys, this is an independent professional league. I am as big of a baseball nut as anyone. I am as big on tradition as anyone. But I think this is awesome and would add a level of excitement to a random irrelevant baseball league that no one watches.

Is it kind of dumb? Yes, absolutely. Is it kind of fun? Just as big of a yes.
