Good to see another grown man stealing balls from little kids. Also, if you make the decision to put "Mai Tai Guy" on a jersey, you shouldn't be allowed in the stadium. pic.twitter.com/hc0M9EJsx8

Eh, the kids couldn't even reach the ball. It was a walkoff HR. Dude should be free to keep it for himself without getting shamed, IMO. Somehow giving a baseball to a kid went from being a kind hearted gesture to a mandatory expectation to avoid public scrutiny. As long as he didn't take it away from the kid I don't understand the witch hunt.

yeah, but its a douche move. Totally different than him catching a ball by himself. Little kids reaching for it and you snag it, give it to them. Grown ass people smdh. I would get excited I caught it but not at keeping it.
Every game I go to I scout for kids around to see which one I will give the ball to if I catch one. Its been 2 years since I caught one though.

Chicago social media is ripping on Mai Tai Guy. Chi Tribune snippet:
https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cubs/ct-cubs-mai-tai-guy-interview-20190717-gkvmdbhxoja5boaq4qo6emjai4-story.html
The first thing you need to know about "Mai Tai Guy" is why he calls himself Mai Tai Guy.
"When I first started coming out here when I was 21, the beers were a buck cheaper than the Mai Tais," Mai Tai Guy said. "The beer is only 5% (alcohol). The Mai Tai is like 12%. So for a buck more, let's get after it, you know?"
Mai Tai Guy's real name is Christopher Sorley, and he's a handyman from Chicago who does roofing, siding, insulation and other odd jobs. He likes to keep his hours flexible so he can hang out in Wrigley Field's left-field bleachers, where he has been going for 20-25 years and which is where he became the latest Cubs fan to become a viral sensation.
Late Tuesday, Sorley was accused of swiping Kyle Schwarber's walk-off home run against the Reds from two young boys who were reaching into the basket for the game-winning ball. Wearing one of his Cubs jerseys with his "Mai Tai Guy" nickname on the back, Sorley quickly became a trending topic on Twitter and the subject of ridicule on sports talk radio.
Sorley defended himself Wednesday, saying it's all a matter of "perception" by fans.

IMO any ball that isnt a toss up is fair game, and as long as you dont make contact with a kid, or pull it from his hands, its yours. How do you know he doesn't have his own kid at home that he's going to give it to? Like I said, it used to be that giving up a foul ball to a kid was just a random act of kindness. Now theres a weird judgement from everyone else if you dont give it up.

Doesn't sound like dude has a whole lot going on besides snatching baseballs away from little kids.

I completely agree. When I went to the Giants-Padres game at Petco a couple of years ago I actually got 2 balls. One was a foul ball and one was from Belt throwing it in the stands. The most fun I had was handing the balls over to little Giants fans that were there with their Dads. The smiles on their faces were priceless.
