I keep forgetting he's still playing baseball. I remember watching that dude as a rookie over a decade ago.

Shocked. Was expecting this to go the other direction.

Seems like maybe the Astros came in overconfident. They had Cole and Verlander at home to start, and 2017 under their belt. They got punched in the mouth and seem stunned.

I think the Astros firing Taubman is ridiculous.
Flame suit activated.

Going to be a long time off for the Nats. I doubt that will be a good thing regardless of who they face in the World Series. Would be nice to see the underdog win, especially an organization that got screwed by the strike in 1994. Just as long as the Yankees don't win.
Wow. Obviously there has been no rust for the Nat's. What a great story if they can close this thing out.
Kind of bittersweet as an A's fan to see Kurt Suzuki and Sean Doolittle about to win a title with another organization.

I thought we'd see a split in Houston but not this. Astros were the heaviest favorites since the Red Sox in 07. Unreal

We live in a world where any perceived intolerance is met with immediate distancing. The Astros want no part of the women's rights protests and bad PR surrounding this. Minor things like that get turned into World War 3 because of social media.

Washington's 1-2 of Scherzer and Strasburg are just about as good as Cole and Verlander so it shouldnt come as THAT big of a surprise. Verlander has been a WS bust too with a record of 0-5 and an era of 5.73. I'm not sure that it was Houston being overconfident or Washington just coming in as a very hot team.

The boys that are still calling the Astros the "better team" are still looking at overall season records. I have news for them. April, May, June and July are meaningless. Ancient history. All stats and records have shelf life, just like a jar of pickles in your cupboard. The Nats are on a roll, their offense is clicking, and their bullpen is outperforming the Astros pen. Sanchez will give them a different type of game, slow speed and hit the low corners with a mixture of pitches. He might look like a right-handed Jamie Moyer, who never threw a 90-mph pitch in his career but won a lot of games with the real estate method. Location, location, location.
"Must win" and "backs to the wall" are two of the silliest expressions you can pay any attention to. 115 teams have won a World Series, which means 115 teams have lost at least one "must win" game.
Already this playoff season eight of the ten playoff qualifiers have lost a "must win" game. Nations have lost entire wars in one "must win" battle. Ask yourself two questions:
Who is playing hotter ball right now?
Who is the "better team" right now?
Great pitchers duel so far. I haven't enjoyed a series this much in a while

Nats are going to kick themselves for all the runners left on base in this one.
