Spencer Turnbull. ANOTHER no hitter. 5th of the season....and its MAY.

I know wins for a pitcher doesn't mean a ton, but dude was 3-17 in 2019. Throws a no-hitter in 2021.

2nd time the Mariners have been no-hit this year.

Turnbull sucks. 5 no hitters in May is ridiculous. And if it keeps happening, no hitters won't be as special anymore.

Its obvious, even though some don't want to admit it, pitchers are cheating.
Plus hitters have gotten worse at hitting since analytics have taken control of the game. Guys aren't going for singles anymore like they used to, they're just trying to get big hits.

You are right but my guess is an increase in spin rate (cheating) and defensive shifts are a bigger reason for that than swinging for the fences.

Turnbull doesn't suck. He's decent. Just on the WTIB. How about the Mariners suck!

Also they should have had 1 hit. Great play by the candy man at 3rd.

Just a little sticky icky ooo eee make a cutter go woo wee.

Lol
The baseballs have something to do with it. Ever since MLB bought Rawlings in 2018 they've been tinkering with the way the baseballs are manufactured to increase offense. In 2019 they went way overboard and the league hit more combined HR than any year ever, including the steroid era years. In 2021 they specifically said they were making an effort to bring the power numbers back down to earth, acknowledging they went too far. They also installed humidors in 50% more of the parks than already had them.

While I think it was much better when a 3rd party made the balls, I think ultimately MLB will try to find the right production model to normalize things.

The shift has played a major role. But its also up to the players to beat the shift. A lot of coaches failed these kids when they were younger by making so many of them just focus on being pull hitters and thinking that's enough.

I'm still half skeptical about the spin rate being attributed to cheating though.
Another no hitter lol

Happy no hitter Thursday!

They were talking Ohtani on mlb radio.
Said the avg speed of his fastball was down 5 mph and his slider down 7 mph.

Blamed it on fatigue. lol

This is what I meant when I said I wasnt sure he could do both and taking a toll on the body. He was down 5 MPH last night. And its only a 1/4 of the way through the season. And he's young. Time will tell, but what he is doing isn't easy. And it makes it that much more amazing. Still scrapped 4 innings for a ND so no biggie. I am sure he bounces right back, but doing both over a full season/career will be exhausting.

How dare you suggest that.
