Betting on his own team? Is that the controversy? Doesn't bother me. Not like he was throwing games. He was trying to win every time out just like anybody should.

Over 3000 hits is hard to fathom. You have to get 200 hits a season for 15 straight years to get 3k. Dude has over 4k. He had a gambling problem. It's been over 30 years man paid his price. They should let him in while he's still around to appreciate it would be nice.

Just because it's some dude with a blog doesn't mean his point is not valid.

A dude with a gambling problem has the moral compass to not bet against his team when he knows they are gonna lose? I'm not naive enough to believe that. And even if I was, not betting on your team to win is essentially the same thing as betting on them to lose.

The Hall of Fame shouldn't have anything to do with being banned from playing or coaching. Or even whether a player wants to be in. Its a history museum for the greatest players of all time. Omitting history because you didn't like something they did is weird to me. Do fans really benefit from that?

Agreed. Should be the greatest HOF in sports with all the history players going back to the 1800s. Instead you have the hall without the hit king, the home run king, without the Cy Young award king...
