better roster doesn't equal winner, if so this WS would be Angels-Dodgers. Experience wins out in these playoffs more often than not and that's where the Giants flat out own the Royals. I said it in the Giants' thread and I'll say it here, I have no doubt the Giants are gonna win the WS.

Looking at it objectively, I got to think the Royals are favorites to win

They are a complete team top to bottom with an absolutely filthy bullpen

But they are going against the magical Giants

You could argue that this royals team is the worst team in terms of talent as far as world series opponents go. (Rangers, tigers, respectively) That's saying something because the Royals got Talent.

It's going to come down to the starters and I thinks that's where the giants have the edge, but the Royals over all seems like the better team on paper

Just hope the Giants get some runs scored through the first 6 innings...tough sledding from the 7th on against Royals pen.

But by the same token Giants BP ain't chopped liver, they just get it done a little differently that these cyborgs the Royals have that all throw 98-100.

I wonder what a few days rest will do to the Royals. 2012 Tigers swept, had a few days off....and the rest is history.
I hope history repeats this year.

You guys realize that the Royals are only gonna have one more day of rest than the Giants will have had when the World series starts?

I didn't anticipate the Giants taking it in 5. I was about 95% certain they were gonna go to 6. Travis Muth**kin Ishikawa...
The real question is "Who is Alex Smith rooting for?"

I expect him to take the high road on that question, if he flips and says he's rooting for the Royals he's dead to me
Giants do better when they are the underdog, so its better for them that the Royals are the favorite.
First world series ever with two teams that had less than 90 wins.
I love how all the talk is about their bullpen... Less innings pitched and higher era as a bullpen.... Almost identical, but 1/3 less innings and a 1.78 to a 1.80

GO ROYALS... seriously curious if I am the ONLY Royals fan in here. Born and raised in Kansas, and ALWAYS been a royals fan... became a niner fan to spite all my Cowboys fan friends in 1981... fell in love with Joe Montana and Eric Wright and have been a fan ever since.

One thing I think most people don't realize about this Royal run is that it actually started back in July after an all player meeting called by Raul Ibanez. Since that meeting the Royals have been playing the best baseball in the majors - extrapolated over 162 game season they would have won 112 games.

Our number 3 starter (Danny Duffy) has barely pitched in the post season... not sure what's going on but there is some injury there. Yordano Ventura is the real ACE, despite his age... this guy has thrown harder than any other starting pitcher in major league history - 102.9 mph!! The defense has been the best in baseball all year... the 7-9 innings are owned by the bullpen... seriously Wade Davis has had one of the best season in baseball history. They may be the fastest team in baseball as well. The ONE thing that was missing all year has been a power bat in the middle of the lineup that makes pitchers nervous. Hosmer and Moose have always been projected to be that type of player but hadn't ever done it over a period of time... they have stepped up big time in the playoffs. Sal Perez is struggling as much at the plate as just about anyone I've seen at the big league level in a long time... BUT he is an absolute BEAST behind the plate... he has a ROCKET for an arm and is a big time leader on the team. There is not a player on this team that I don't like... they are a blast to watch (although I'd love to see a few more long balls and less crazy decisions by Ned Yost) and have built up a tremendous amount of confidence over the last 8 games. Experience in the playoffs was something they lacked, but pulling out win after win... 4 down against John Lester, extra innings... facing the team with the best record in baseball and sweeping all the way to the WS has given them an incredible boost in confidence, and while it's only 8 games, it's 8 of the tightest games you could imagine and they pulled out the win in every single one.

One thing is for certain, this should be one of the most entertaining World Series' we've seen in a long, long time.

it does help to get to face an occasional pitcher at the plate instead of say... Nelson Cruz at DH.

With the exception of Finnegan, who is fearless but young, NO reliever has an ERA over 1.14 during the playoffs. The real key to the bullpen obviously is the 7,8,9th inning guys. These guys all threw at least 60 innings during the regular season and had an ERA of 1.41, 1.00 and 1.44 (1.08, .96 and 1.13 in playoffs) and WHIP's of 1.14, .85 and .91 (.96, .75 and 1.00 in the playoffs). The numbers are sick... it's not just a playoff thing, these guys have been doing this all year long. The Giants bullpen has obviously stepped it up in the playoffs, and I'll be honest I haven't really followed them during the season, but just looking at the numbers it appears statistically that they are not near what the Royals pen was during the regular season.
Go Giants!

Love the enthusiasm. Who knows what happens. But you realize you are talking about a core 4 in a bullpen that has so much experience. 9 total rings from the core 4.

You also forgot billy Butler or who ever won't be batting game 3-5. Advantage giants!

Gonna be a ton of fun!

Royals are my AL team. I lived in KC for 6 years, and ive been to about 30 Royals games. Im as big of a Giants diehard there is, so for this next series KC becomes the enemy. I just hope I dont have to end up bitter at them..

From ESPNs standpoint I can see how they would feel this way. They hope for a yankees or Red Sox series every year. They want the ratings, that's why they hang on their nuts every year, even when they suck. Ratings. But from a baseball fans standpoint, I like it. The royals are a great story. Haven't been good since the george Brett era. Exciting team with a crazy run at the WS. Young team and some parity which a lot of fans love. The Giants are full of some great personalities, a great skipper and a baby faced catcher who just wins at life. Another improbable run at a WS.

The royals remind me of when I got caught up in the Tampa Bay Rays WS run in 09 I tnink. I was rooting hard for them because it was different.

Hell even TBS had to be sad. Paid all that money for the AL series, only to have the royals sweep the series and way less games than they could have had. But that article is full of holes and wrote from a personal opinion.
