More than that:

MLB's investigation found that Marcano didn't just bet on baseball frequently -- he's claimed to have gambled more than $150,000 across nearly 400 baseball bets, including on MLB and international contests -- but that he even bet on his own team, then the Pirates. "[Almost] all of Marcano's Pirates bets were on which club (the Pirates or their opponent) would win the game or whether there would be more or less than a certain number of runs scored in the game," MLB said in a press release.

It's notable that Marcano did not appear in any of the games that he bet on because of his injury. He also denied having inside information that influenced his bets. MLB estimates that he won just 4.3% of his MLB-related gambles.

This White Sox team is amazingly terrible. 31-108, .233 win %, and on another 10+ game losing streak. They need to go 12-11 in their last 23 games to avoid matching the 1962 Mets for the modern record of 120 losses, which seems impossible. The worst winning % in modern baseball (1901-present) belongs to the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics, who went 36-117 for a .235 win %. That's also the fewest wins in a modern baseball season, but to avoid matching that low win total Chicago would need to go 6-17, which is a .261 win % over the last 23 games. They have to get to 39 wins to get above that .235 win % of that 1916 Athletics team - you know, go 8-15 in their last 23 games. Yeah right. That's how putrid this team is - they're equaling a deadball era team who two years prior went from first to worst by jettisoning their best players, and one of the original expansion teams.

120 losses for the White Sox. They still have 6 games left.

Methinks that Las Vegas deal falls through. They should just move the team nearby like San Jose or Sac and get it over with.

White Sox have won 3 to get to 39 wins, avoiding having a worse win % than the 1916 Athletics (.235). Now they have 3 games left to still avoid loss 121 (or more).

Welp, they did better than their season up to that point when I first posted this, going 10-13 in their last 23, including a 5-1 stretch in their final six games, but the White Sox still set the new record with 121 losses. They do have a miniscule advantage of win % over the 1962 Mets - .253 vs. .250.

Fisher is an easy target, and it's hard to say he's a good owner, but this is not a uniquely A's phenomenon. Warriors and Raiders are already gone. Those clubs have different owners. if it was just a Fisher problem, those teams would still be in town. they aren't.

I don't blame Fisher.

It's the MLBs fault for allowing so many bad owners in, and then allowing them to keep their teams after they showed they are cheap asses that only care about the business side. They refused to sell to Cuban just because he doesn't fall inline with the MLB status quo.

I'm glad baseball continues to be on the decline, ratings dropping, and hopefully this leads to MLB fixing their main issue which is bad ownership.
The irony of this post.

forever shame on the head of Mansfred the idiot for not having the hits leader, the HR leader and the Cy Young leader in the hall. Rose deserved that honor before he passed away, and Mansfred didn't get it done would have been very easy.

In his last known letter to current commissioner Rob Manfred in 2022, Rose said he wanted to ask for forgiveness and get another chance at achieving his "dream to be considered for the Hall of Fame."
Manfred did not appear to respond to the letter and had rejected Rose's previous requests.
