He would be the perfect fit for what we need. Already proven he fits in, fan favorite.

We should've traded them McGehee and cash for Morse. lol

Both have been disasters. Switching back would be better for both players.

We wont bring back Morse unless Miami eats a significant part of his contract. Fricking McGehee.. 4 for 10 with 4 rbi with Miami. In 10 at bats with the Giants he would have 4 GIDPs.

Didnt we offer him like 8 mil for 1 year? Hes got about 11 mil remaining. If we paid 8-9 of that and got him for the next 1.5 years that seems reasonable. We need the depth. Maxwell has been great defensively, but Morse would probably be an overall upgrade. Plus he has that 2014 upside that would be well worth it.
morse still hurt? i forgot what he was out for

Would really like this if they could bring Morse back. Then, goodbye Maxwell (though it would be an offense-for-defense trade, would still take Morse the way he's showed he fits in with this team in the clubhouse and as a power bat).

That is a lot of money though for a guy who will just pinch hit and play occasionally in the OF. He wont play 1B unless Belt gets hurt and I dont see him playing ahead of Aoki now. Maybe he would get a start now and then against a tough LHP.

I really liked Morse a lot and would love to see him back but there is no doubt Miami would have to pick up a good part of the tab. I think they would too given that he has basically lost his position at 1B.

It's not like we are hurting for money, he won't be that expensive - I'd rather pay more of the contract than give up any good assets to get him.

Contract aside (which Miami would have to eat most of to make it worth while), I don't think MikeyMo is a good fit for this team anymore. Once Aoki and Pence return to form, they shouldn't have issues scoring enough runs...the bigger need on this team is, has been and will be, starting pitching.

MM was a productive Giant and a great doot, but he'd be nothing more than a luxury item at this point IMO.

If you can get him for cheap why not? It's a inexpensive positive addition... anyway.

SP post all-star break, Bochy says Huddy will be in the 5 man

Bum
Cain
Peavy
Heston
Hudson

Vogey to the pen.

What fits? You talking like a Cueto or Hamels addition?

If you can get anyone for cheap, you have to ask yourself why.

Doesn't have to be Cueto or Hamels (price would be prohibitive). Look 2nd tier free agents, like Peavy last year...those are typically the kinds of deals they make. Names like Kazmir, Yovani Gallardo or even Ian Kennedy could be had without giving up the farm (literally).

Money is ALWAYS a factor. The Giants didnt want to give Morse a 2 year deal when they had no other LF. Why would they pay him 12 million over 1.5 years as simply a pinch hitter and occasional spot LF. Now, if Miami picked up about 2/3 of the contract they might consider but really Morse isnt the fit he used to be. Wont play 1B and wont see much action at all in LF.

Youre probably right. I just wish there was a spot for him. He was such a great Giant. He fit in so well, and not only brought power, but personality and energy to the team. It felt weird when he came to get his ring. Its like he was still on the team, but then had to go walk to the opposite dugout.

Maybe the Marlins will want to just cut their losses, eat a good portion of the money, and send him back to a team he fit better with. We all know he wants to come back.

Even if it was just a backup OF role, he could be an asset to this team. We still lack that HR threat pinch hitter. Ive never understood why the Giants refuse to carry that guy. The bench power hitter that can pinch hit late in the game with 2 men on, down 2 runs and give you a lead with one swing. Maxwell is the closest to that, but its mostly guys like Arias, Blanco, and Adrianza, who probably arent going to do that.

I dont think the Giants will be players at all for SP. They have 7 guys now in the mix and I just cant see a 2nd tier guy coming in. I honestly dont see them making any big move this year. Maybe a corner OF and then dump Maxwell but thats about it.

7 guys in the mix, but only 2 we can really count on (MadBum and Heston). We still don't really know what we'll get from Cain and Peavy the rest of the year, we know Vogey/Huddy/Petit can't be counted on to consistently deliver quality starts and we're certain Timmy is done as a Giant. Like they say, when you have too many QBs, you don't have any QBs.

If we can get one more quality/consistent arm, we might have a shot at the playoffs this year. I love what Gallardo has done this year in Texas and you can pretty much count on him making all his starts every year. Madbum, Hesto and Gallardo at the top of your rotation with the "rehabbing" veterans Cain and Peavy as your 4th/5th...I could work with that.

The Giants seem determined to keep him down at AAA. He's probably watching guys like Lollis, Parker, and Adrianza get the call and thinking "WTF..."

I know OF isnt his primary position, but he can play LF. Im glad they let Duffy win that job over DP McGehee instead of bringing up Duvall, but even when weve had a need the Giants have passed on Duvall.
