Unless were trading for Maybin or Parra to replace Pagan in CF, we really have no need for a hitter. Aoki, Panik, Duffy, Posey, Pence, Crawford, Belt, Pagan is a great lineup.
And the starting staff is too deep to add more. Were already going to have 3 capable SP in the pen once Hudson and Lincecum get back.
Im down to add a CF or a closer.

This, although I'd also be down for adding a good SP if nothing else or in addition to one of the above two. The starting rotation over the long haul of this season (and hopefully into the playoffs) definitely has some question marks with the guys coming back from injuries, the age factor/durability, etc. In the OF, nothing against Pagan but can the Giants really count on him day in and day out to stay healthy for the rest of the season and into the playoffs? He just hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy in the past. We somehow made it through last year with Blanco playing every day in the playoffs (I know, he did pretty well...just not a huge fan of him as a starter) and throwing Ishikawa out there in LF. I wish this team could add Parra as he seems like he'd fit in well as he's versatile, can hit, and play D. Our OF depth would be very solid with him - no more putting guys like Maxwell out there. As for the closer, let's somehow reel in Chapman from the Reds if possible - would love to have a shutdown closer like him with that arm he has. I might be dreaming on the Chapman idea, though.

IMO, you're confusing the word "deep" with "crowded." Deep infers a certain level of quality to the numbers, which is not the case for our starting staff.

I'd have to agree with you...the Giants have a "crowded" yet not "deep" SP staff. The Nationals - now that, unfortunately, is a team with a deep (quality) staff of starters.

Either way there isnt a ton of room to add somebody. Were not going to cut Lincecum or Hudson, and were not going to send Heston down. Vogelsong hasnt been bad enough to get cut, and hes been a veteran part of this team long enough to where they arent going to give him the boot.

Have to agree with 99 here which is why I said I didnt think the Giants would make any trades for SP. The fan fall out would be great if they just cut Timmy given his contributions to 3 WS teams and given the love he has. No way they DFA Huddy when he has 2.5 months left in his career. They still have another year of Jake.
The Giants are going to live and die with this staff. In the off season with Timmy, Hudson, and Vogelsong all gone they will go hard after a SP.

Youre going to take Juan Perez for Maybin, and youre going to like it. Part of the deal includes the Braves having to sign Chris Johnson to a 7 year extension.

Agree that's what they'll do, just disagree in terms of what they should do.
