If they got a good enough deal they would.

But why would the Giants do that? The last thing they want is to deal the Rockies a bunch of their own guys that could potentially beat them routinely for years to come.
Cargo gets injured way too often. Great player, but hes 30, hes injury prone, and he would be leaving the biggest hitters park in baseball for the biggest pitchers park in baseball.
Doesnt exactly scream "trending up".

Yeah, I agree, I don't think the Giants do it unless it's a much younger Car Go. As far as giving them players, getting Carlos would also be hurting the Rockies. so it goes both ways.

Theyre rebuilding anyways. Cargo probably has 2-3 years left as an impact type player. By the time the Rockies are ready to win again, Cargo wouldnt be a big threat anymore.
Career .326 hitter at Coors, but .257 hitter away from Coors.
I'll take jay Bruce and stick him in left before cargo, plus I think our front office is content with our startersOriginally posted by Niners99:Originally posted by mayo49:Originally posted by Niners99:The Rockies arent trading Cargo to a division rival.

Tulo-.321 at home, .276 away
Todd Helton at home .345 at home, .287 away

Didnt give up Beede or Crick, which is nice. Gave up a solid prospect though for a rental. But Leake is tough and a quality SP. Really improves our chances, especially now that Huddy is out of the rotation.
I am good with the trade. I think it will make us better. I hope Leake falls in love with the SF crowd and team like others do and wants to return, because he will be costly in the offseason.

Hes from CA, hes got ties with Bochy going back to childhood in SD, and hes leaving a bandbox for a pitchers park. I think hes thrilled with this deal.
Throw in that the Giants are like the gold standard for MLB teams right now, and I think Leake is going to be very willing to stay in SF after this season.
It depends on what he does down the stretch, but he will be a relatively cheap option for a 27-28 year old SP with his type of ability. 5/70 is probably what hes worth, which isnt bad.

First, he is from CA but he is from San Diego. Thats a big difference, and still requires a flight. So I agree, but that doesnt really mean anything. Plus it is a business, and CA is tax heavy on people who make a lot of money.
But he will get more than 70M bruh.

So the Giants have seen several teams make moves to strengthen their chances and havent done anything. Look for that to change tomorrow. Mike Leake will be a Giant sometime in the next 18 hours.![]()
So if this does happen the question is .... how much will they have to give up?
Mike Leake is kind of the losers prize of this years deadline. I certainly hope we dont give up anything good.
