So the Giants have seen several teams make moves to strengthen their chances and havent done anything. Look for that to change tomorrow. Mike Leake will be a Giant sometime in the next 18 hours.
So if this does happen the question is .... how much will they have to give up?
Mike Leake is kind of the losers prize of this years deadline. I certainly hope we dont give up anything good.
99.. You really changed your tune quickly on Leake!
Nice call on Leake, John!
Thanks Ghost. Maybe he will be the steal of the deadline and lead us back to the playoffs.
Should be an active day today for many teams. Upton, Cespedes, Shields, Kimbrel... could they all be going somewhere? So many big names traded this year.
I wonder if we go after Chapman now. The teams both have a feel for the value/interest in our prospects...maybe we make one more trade with the Reds to solidify the bullpen.
Kontos, Romo, Lopez, Strickland, Osich, Casilla, Chapman??? Like the Royals, you can make it a 6 inning game most times.
trading for Chapman would shock me. I would think he would cost Beede or Crick, Arroyo, and Strickland or Osich at a minimum given that he isnt a rental.
I'd give up Beede and Arroyo+change knowing I have Chapman for next year's run too, but not Crick, Strickland or Osich.
Just me, but with the development of Panik/Duffy and the incredible growth of Crawford, Christian Arroyo is blocked from any meaningful big league playing time for the foreseeable future. Sure, it'd be nice to have a young stud you can call up in the event of injury, but sometimes you have to take from areas of strength (infield prospects) to plug up critical areas of weakness/vulnerability (big league closer).
