The last thing the Giants need is Bumgarner getting in a fight and getting suspended. He needs to worry about getting outs and less about a bat flip. The same thing I thought when the retarded SD pitcher threw his gum at Hector after his tiny flip.

So true. But you know he will never get suspended for any length of time. If a dude charges the mound it's game on to swing. Worst case scenario he might miss one start.

The Giants dont need for him to miss even one start and it he does throw punches he will get suspended even if someone charges the mound. I like his fire but he needs to control it. I guarantee you that Bochy would say the same thing

Leake making debut on Sunday

Yes

3.56 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP pitching for the Reds this year. I cant wait to see what he'll do in a pitchers park.

We already kind of know.

His ERA was almost 5 Great American Park and a 1.46 WHIP (which is average to below average).

He was great on the road - so that's the no. I'm interested in - 2.28 ERA and .86 WHIP (which is elite).

0.86 WHIP is better than elite. Im just hoping that if he can put up ERA's in the mid 3's while pitching half his starts at Great American, substituting AT&T in instead will reveal his true value and potential.

Yes...it is - I didn't know how to describe it, but better than elite is right.

I think ERA in the mid to low 3s will be great. That's a very realistic expectation based on what he did outside of Great American. Hopefully, he can quickly adjust to his new surroundings and continue with his excellent season.

Calm down Bumgarner...

Standing up for Joe.

I know, I just dont want him to get suspended. Hes already having a bad night.

Slide was bush league.

Was it? It was right at the base. Panik needs to do a better job of avoiding contact on the turn. He left his feet planted, and didn't even jump at all.

Yes, it was. Watch it back. He didnt start sliding until he was almost ON the base, and he changed his course to go into Panik's legs.

It was a dirty play, and hes going to have to watch his back these next 2 games.

Lol its not showing him up. The batter is mad at himself, nothing to do with bumgarner. That dude needs to settle down

Love Bum but I completely agree. That flip wasnt showing up Bumgarner in anyway. Stupid reaction

You dont know what he said though.

The way I see it, Bumgarner deserves respect, and he commands it. He doesnt want hitters yelling BS or flipping bats, and hes going to police that when hes out there.

Maybe it seems unreasonable, but it sets a standard. Hes an indimidating guy to begin with, so if he develops a reputation for getting angry at any form of disrespect, its going to make most hitters be mindful of how they conduct themselves against him.

Bob Gibson was probably the EXACT same way, and he gained even more of a mental advantage because of it.

At some point Odor is going to take a hard slide, and the benches will probably clear again. Not very smart to do when you also play 2B.

They wont see Texas again for a few years, so the time for payback is now.

This. Bum is ol' skool in a new skool world, so this is going to keep happening.

Nail on the head...that describes me, too. Why, I'm so old school, I still spell it "school". Ghost, feelings about Duvall gone?

More happy for him than anything. He wasn't ever going to get a legit shot for the big club so they at least got something for him and he can start over with a new team near his hometown of Louisville, KY. The down side to joining the Reds of course is he's facing the same situation, no room at 3rd/1st and he's not really an OF, so where does he get ABs?

I'll definitely miss watching him and his moonshot HRs though.

I think its stupid. Just play the damn game. He didnt show Bumgarner up by staring at a HR for several seconds or taking forever to run around the bases. Or.. stare or yell at him. Just a dumb reaction by Bumgarner as nothing needed to be policed

Having said that, I wouldnt have had an issue with Bum drilling Odor in the leg or the butt after the slide. Nothing up high but something that wouldnt hurt him but would get a message across that you dont do something that will hurt my guy.
