The double play has been a full on epidemic this year. So frustrating. This guy blew it last night, and was having trouble throwing strikes today, and Pence bails him out. SMH...
The Giants did not deserve to win this game. To be honest, they are damn lucky they weren't swept in this series. They made Perez look like a HOFer. This was his first win of the year, and his ERA prior to today was flirting with double digits. Aoki looked like a butcher in the field. Pagan looks like he is having trouble walking these days. And just poor approaches at the plate overall.

It sets a bad tone with the entire club when Bumgarner gets roughed up. Seems to have some lingering effects. Not a good start going into 'dog days of summer' road trip. Leake looks to be just what the doctor ordered. A quality starter to help deal with the massive amount of innings they will play this month.

Kind of comical how LA just pulls away every time Giants get a taste of first place. I think they're toying with us.

I hate the f**king Dodgers.

Just makes me feel better saying that.

Let them win the division, it wont matter as long as they have to face STL again.

Exactly, then we can eliminate the Cardinals and humiliate them again.

Wouldn't we face them 1st then?

Or have I forgotten how playoff seeding in MLB works.

You cant face a division opponent in the first round.

Wouldnt we face St Louis first if we are a WC team?

If dodgers win division, they wouldn't see cardinals until nlcs

If the season ended today, yes.

Ultimately, my favorite team is the Giants, and my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Dodgers, so as long as they face someone that owns them, im happy. Its likely for the Dodgers that they will have to go through the Cards or the Giants on the road to the WS, both teams they have struggled against.
Apparently Baseball America reported that Cole Hamels had waived his no trade clause to go to the Giants, but the Phillies liked the Rangers package a bit better. So sounds like Leake was a fallback, since they had been in contact with the Reds about Leake for a long time.

It wouldve been nice to get Hamels, but it probably wouldve cost us 3 of our top 5 guys. Mella had some rotator cuff issues last year, so maybe the Giants werent as high on him as the rankings were. Leake for much cheaper could end up being a better deal if we can get him for around 14 mil a year longterm.
