Can you imagine if Eddie D hadnt screwed up and had been the Niners owner all these years? I dont even know how many SB titles the Niners would have won but I would guess 8-9 anyway. Times with the Niners, Giants, and Dubs would be incredible right now.

Now you are just depressing me.

To be fair, we lost 2-3 more Super Bowl titles when Eddie D and Carmen Policy decided to trade Charles Haley to Dallas.

We also shouldve won in 1987 and 1990. 4 straight somehow ended up being only 2.

Wait, we would have won 4-5 more SB's? lol I dunno about that, I'm pretty sure we were due for that big dip in the mid 2000's, no?

I think we would have won if we had gone to the Superbowls where Roger Craig fumbled - back to back to back - and the Kyle Williams fumble game. Pretty sure we would have won both of those, so I will give it 7.

Yeah I agree we would have won in 1990 but wasn't Eddie D still around for that?

Either way there are a few SB's we could have had that we didn't get.

It is impossible to know for sure obviously but I feel pretty confident that the Niners would have at least as many as Pittsburgh if they had Eddie running we great organization rather than the dumbass Yorks.

I would say there is no way in hell Harper becomes a Giant. Giants have a hard time landing all the big name free agents, so what makes people think they would be able to land one of, if not the biggest free agent in history? Of course the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers would be quick to outbid the Giants; the Giants wouldn't have a chance.

And I still don't buy it that because a player posts a picture of a city (especially when he is there for the Super Bowl) that you can assume that he automatically wants to play there. SF is a beautiful city, anybody can post a picture with nice scenery and put a caption on it, but it doesn't automatically mean that person wants to live there, or play there. Maybe he would like to play in SF but I think people are making a bit of a big deal over some of his tweets and instagram posts lately.

And if somehow the Giants did pull the $$ together to sign him in a couple years, get ready to be in the cellar for awhile because how would they afford anyone else to fill out the rest of the roster? The rotation would be worse than last year, and Bumgarner would definitely not be re-signing. Would I like Harper to be on the Giants? Yeah definitely, for his talents. But not if it costs $400 million and we can't afford any other decent players to play with him.

Either way, highly highly unlikely to happen. Would be the biggest surprise of my life if the Giants actually signed him

I'm still waiting for the player who, after socking away a couple of hundred million, no longer considers money the central issue on where he signs. Who will be the first player to say, "Screw it. I've made more than I, or the next 10 generations of my family, can ever spend. I'm signing where I want to be. Quality of life." I hope it's Harper, or Durant.

Agreed. You would think this would eventually happen. When does so much $$ become enough $$?
If we dont screw things up or trade Charles Haley, we likely wouldve won in 1987, 1990, 1992, and 1993. If Kyle Williams doesnt fumble twice, we wouldve had it in 2011. 2012 SB, 2013 Kap interception.

We blew about 7 more SB titles with bonehead mistakes...

Because those big name free agents havent repeatedly vocalized how much they are in love with the city of San Francisco, or been overly complimentary of our organization and ballpark.

To me, this whole scenario has nothing to do with us being able to convince Bryce to come here. If he wants to play in SF, he wants to play in SF. Its up to us to decide if we want him for the price or not....not the other way around like you are alluding to.

Ok, you're making it sound like the Giants will be able to just offer him whatever they want and he'll come crawling to them, because he posted a couple pictures and tweets lol. I doubt the Giants will come close to matching the highest offer he gets from the other big spenders, and in the end, $$ is usually the deciding factor. Sure the Giants can want him, and he could want the Giants, but what if some other team comes and completely blows the Giants offer out of the water?

People acting like 2011 would have been an automatic win against the Patriots, and 2013 would have been automatic against Denver. Woulda been nice though

Based on the type of team we had, our losses in 2011 came against teams built like us. Ravens, Giants, and Vikings. The Pats were an offensive finesse team, which we routinely handled. Obviously you can never just assume a win against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, but were were a better team than NY, and they still beat NE.

2013 wouldve been automatic. Denver was no match for either of us that year. Everyone knew the NFC title game was the Super Bowl.

Its great that we got 5, but it could've been so much more.

In 2011, both of the patriots TE's were hurt too, so there is no doubt in my mind the niners would have won. I'm sure it would have been a close game score wise like every single other one that year, but the niners' defense would have been too much for the patriots' offense.
Baseball talk! Gtfo of here with that eggball talk. Lol.

If we played better football we'd have won it in 1995, 1996 1997, 1998 and if Young doesn't get concussed 1999 too.

I never said the solution was "if we played better". Those losses came down to specific moments, not just being a better team in general.

We were on the very brink of a title in all 7 seasons I listed except for 1987, when we entered the playoffs as the clear favorite to wipe everyone out. Minnesota came in and beat us is a shocking loss.

Outside that, the other seasons came down to 1 close game. It was more than just "if we wouldve played better that year." Were talking about a Roger Craig fumble, a Charles Haley trade not tipping the NFC title game scales twice, a Kyle Williams fumble, a last play SB throw, and a last play NFC champ game pick.
