The amount of hate thrown at Pablo by fellow Giants fans actually makes me sick.

The guy was loved in SF. But, he threw it all away. He couldn't keep himself in shape and turned down a huge contract over 100M to stay with his teammates shortly after he said in front of everyone that he wanted to come back.

I am glad he is gone and thankful that Boston bailed the Giants out of a HUGE (pun intended) mistake. I dont root against him like I do against Dusty Baker teams. Afterall, he was a big cog in 2 of our WS titles. But I wont root for him either.

Dont disagree with this at all. Not rooting for someone is not the same as name calling and pure hatred. The fact that so many Giants are quick to turn on a guy who was instrumental in bringing the team you love 2 rings upsets me. Dude could be 500 pounds and eat himself out of baseball, and I would never have bad things to say about the guy. He was one of the keys to the glory years of the team we all love, and for that I will be forever grateful.

You seem to forget about the part where the Giants offered him above market value to stay, but because they lowballed him (because of weight problems) earlier that year, he spurned them.

He went to Boston, and started talking all kinds of crap about SF. He dissed his teammates, who he couldn't have won those rings without. He also failed to recognize the Giants for signing him and developing him.

Pablo burned his bridges to the ground. He deserves to have every Giants fan rooting against him now. To have a successful career here, win titles, and have the overwhelming support of the fans, despite laziness, he should be nothing but grateful of his time here. But, he chose to be a punk, and talk crap on his way out the door.

And then Aubrey Huff came out and told everyone how the Giants clubhouse really felt about him. He wasnt exactly this warm, loveable Panda character that everyone assumed.

Pablo has no right to still have any of the support of his former team or fans in the bay area after the petty way he left.
I am not disagreeing with you at all... but do you remember when he hit three home runs in Game 1 of the 2012 WS, against Verlander??!

Maybe he and the Giants had a bad break up, but you cant deny he was a huge part of the team in his prime years. He loved the fans and the fans loved him back. I'm with SteveWallace. You may disagree with the business side of how he left the Giants, but on the field, he was one of the greatest Giants of all time and when he's done with baseball Giants fans will still remember him.

Terrell Owens was a great 49er, and he left like a total a-hole too, bashing Bill Walsh and forcing a bad trade. Its too bad, but its the choice he made.

The fans dont owe Pablo a thing. We cheered him on, even when he deserved to be booed. He went through horrible, prolonged slumps swinging through eye level fastballs over and over, was never in shape, and still the fans backed him loyally.

He set the mood for the 2012 WS with that game 1 against Verlander, but he wasnt the only reason we won. We were the better team.

Lets not forget that Pablo was a 12-15 HR guy who drove in 80 runs a season. He wasnt a superstar. He had the potential, but chose to live it up in his spare time instead of work to get in shape. An underachiever.

To say that Bruce Bochy and Hunter Pence were the only people hed miss from SF is such a slap in the face to so many guys who made it possible for him to get the kind of money he did. Without guys like Posey and Bum, he has 0 rings, and no playoff performer reputation to land him close to 100 mil. He wouldve just been a fat .290 hitter with 15 HR power on a mediocre team.

The Giants even offered him MORE than Boston to stay last minute, but he said he had made up his mind to leave before the 2014 season even started. They did everything for him, and he spit in their faces on the way out.

Like Aubrey Huff said, Pablo was bitter that the Giants made him get on a treadmill. Im thinking he's probably regretting turning down that 100 mil. to stay right about now. Hes just an out of shape player robbing his team blind with his salary, in a market that is ruthless to guys like him. The Panda hats have been replaced with middle fingers out east.

Can anyone offer their opinion on something regarding my ability to watch Giants games please???

I first moved out of the bay area in 2012, and I purchased MLB extra innings with Cox cable company. I got to see all the games, however most of the time especially on road games, I had to listen to the opposing team's broadcasters, and this drove me nuts. There was almost never a choice of which broadcast feed I got to watch. Plus, during home games, there was usually a game from the east coast at 4 pm Pacific time on before the Giants game and I would have to miss to first few innings of the Giants til the previous game was over. I ended up switching to Directv the next year so I could get NFL Sunday Ticket.

Anyways, for baseball my ex wife's parents had MLB.tv subscription and they gave me their password so I could use their profile on my smart tv. I even used it last year, after I divorced their daughter. It worked for the last couple seasons, but it definitely had some annoying traits about it, which I wont mention here. Anyways, I have no clue if I will still have access to their password this season because as I said, she is my ex wife now.

I have no problem spending the $300 or whatever it is, but I was wondering if anyone in here is really familiar with the MLB extra innings package through Directv? Do the problems I mentioned above with my MLB extra innings with Cox exist with Directv? If I can't choose the broadcast feed and listen to Kruk & Kuip for every game, then I definitely do not want it. Any insight would be appreciated fellow Giants fans!! If I don't get the extra innings, then I guess I will get my own MLB.tv subscription, but there are definitely some annoying things with that too and I would prefer to be able to just DVR every game rather than stream them.

Thanks!!

I've had the MLB package with DirecTv, it's good if you live out of market and want to see the Giants. It's like the NBA package with them, you get a choice of the announcing feed with the home or visiting team. Much better than what Cox offered. You can also set it up to watch on your mobile device as well at no extra charge, I use mine to watch the Warriors on the DirecTV NBA package when I'm on the road.

I had the same problem when you purchase extra innings from your cable provider. A few years ago I switched to buy it online with MLB TV and problem solved. With the MLB Online at bat version, you always get the choice to watch the Giants announcers. If you have an apple TV and use your same sign up info, you just play the game on your regular TV. Or if you are on the go, watch it on your phone or iPad.

Boast got me to switch to this version a few years ago and it's way better than the cable extra innings service. Cheaper also...$85 for a single team or $109 for all teams.

Awesome, maybe I'll give it a try! Does every game have its own designated channel so there isn't a scheduling conflict like I mentioned in my post?? I had to miss the first inning or 2 or even 3 or 4 sometimes when the Giants were at home, because the channel that the Giants game was scheduled to be on had an east coast game being played so they wouldn't switch coverage until that game was over. That was very frustrating, to pay $300 or whatever and have that issue plus maybe hear Kruk and Kuip 50% of the time. I appreciate the advice

So the at bat version is different than the regular one? I'm not sure which one I used the previous 2 seasons. I have a Samsung smartTV, I just downloaded the app onto it, and that's how I watch it, using my ex in-laws log in info lol. I have had to watch on my laptop a few times before for some reason. I do like the fact that you always get the choice of which broadcast you watch, and there is never scheduling conflicts, and you can go back and watch any game whenever you want. The only things I don't like about it is that sometimes it seems to have an issue where it will just abruptly stop working and it would kick me out and I would have to restart it. Also, last year for some reason I couldn't start an already in progress game from the beginning. So I would have to open the game, and cover the scoreboard while I rewinded to the beginning which was really annoying. I called MLB.tv and asked them why there was no "start from beginning" option and they couldn't figure it out. I rarely get to watch a game live from the beginning because of my schedule so this happened often.
The issue of getting kicked out did not happen last season nearly as often as the year before though. I'm still not decided on what route I want to go. Also, it's really only $85? I could have sworn that it was at least $199 or $299?
Thanks, I appreciate your input man!

Yes, every game comes with it's own channel. I've had both NBA and MLB packages with DirecTv, have never missed any part of any game.
MLBTR posted an article about a Tommy John surgery predicting chart using data from FanGraphs and another system. It's supposed to put odds of every pitchers chance of blowing their arm out and needing it. I think they focus on factors like arm angle, usage, upper body reliance, past injury, velocity, etc.

I was happy to see that most of the Giants entire staff was in the green side of the chart, meaning their odds of needing TJ into the future were extremely low.

I though Bum would be lower because of his arm slot, but I guess the high mileage adds some risk. Obviously Hudson doesn't apply anymore.

Here is the Giants pitchers chart. BTW, the guy cut off at the very bottom at like negative 130% chance is Javier Lopez, as you might have guessed. lol

Yes, but he really wants to hear Krug and Kuip. The cable version makes you listen to the other teams announcers about 25% of the time. The MLB TV version is much better and only happened about 2 times all last year. And I watch around 150-155 giants games a year.

Yeah, but at least hes not super high on the list. Here are the highest risk guys. Strickland was down at about 60%, although the % doesn't directly translate to actual probability of tearing something.
