Players plan on doing a lot of things, but ultimately the Giants have the final say.
Why do some of you guys want Posey to stay at Catcher so bad? How satisfying will being right feel after Posey's career is cut short because of head injuries and shot knees?
Posey is a much better hitter on fresh legs. His legs are the key to his swing. Thats why he never hits in the postseason, because his legs are tired. Playing 1B would allow him to be an elite hitter well into the future. At some point we have to say goodbye to his value behind the plate so we can get the most out of his career.

omg.. not this again
99.. Buster is going to play where he wants to play right now. He has earned that right and he is great behind the plate. Now, that could change in a couple of years but even then he will have to buy into it. Bottom line is... the Giants are a better team with Buster catching and Belt at 1B

I never said anything contrary to what you just retorted. I never said he should abandon Catcher right now, or that the Giants werent better as a team with him behind the plate.
I said that at some point in the near future, the Giants would be better off moving him over so he isnt taking that abuse into his 30's. It benefits the longevity of his career. Obviously it sucks to lose his catching acumen, but thats part of the give and take of keeping him healthy as he ages.
I think you also overestimate Posey's stubbornness, or his power to tell the team what hes going to do. The Giants are paying him over 20 million a season for the next 7 years. If they think their investment is better protected at another position, they arent going to just back off because he likes to catch. Posey is also a smart, reasonable guy. Hes going to get tired of being in the crouch, especially as his career wears on.
Common sense tells you to start looking for a Catcher who can take over the pitching staff, and migrate your franchise player to a safer position, in which his career splits clearly favor in relation to hitting.
Im not sure why I get so much pushback on this.
I think right now a 60/40 time split makes sense (C to 1B), and then gradually moving more towards 1B until you find that C who can be trusted with the staff. Maybe you eventually have Buster just catch Bumgarner well into the future, but playing 1B the other 4 days.

Joe mauer went from elite to garbage that quickly because he stayed behind the plate too long
Edit: garbage is harsh. He became average. Last two years at least. And he's only 32 I believe

Buster will look good in the infield once we add Harper in RF.

No, its not harsh. Its the truth. Mauer is not average, he is trash. I personally have him ranked #2 (right behind Matt Cain), on the worst contracts in all of baseball list.

Sergio please shut your mouth. You are talking trash to a future teammate of yours, provided you are still on the team when we sign him.
