He said something about baseball and Sergio Romo said he is a dumbass. Or something like that.

Hes a great young player. He's probably going to the HOF as long as he can stay somewhat healthy. I just think hes immature, entitled, and has a bad attitude. Its not all his fault, because hes been told he was special his whole life.

Great player, crappy attitude, and will likely never be a Giant. I have nothing against him as a player.

He is special.

So is Posey. Yet their attitudes are almost polar opposites.

I love Posey. He is a great Giant and he will be with us for a long time as the best catcher in baseball.

But he's not the talent that Bryce Harper is.

Define "talent". Posey played all 9 positions in college, including pitcher. Hes got one of the best throwing arms in baseball. Hes an elite pitch framer. A top defensive player. He calls an incredible game. Hes won a batting title, an MVP, was the ROY, and a 3 time silver slugger. He was also the defining member of 3 world championship teams by age 27.

Bryce Harper might be more naturally gifted, but hes got quite a mountain to climb to catch up to what Posey has done.

If you look at how valuable Posey is at the plate, combined with how good he is with the pitching staff, there really isnt a player in baseball that affects his entire 25 man roster like Posey does.

391 K's in 341.0 IP with only 63 walks in the last 6 years. I think hes stepped up pretty consistently.

If that was the case he wouldn't have lost the closing job to Casilla

So you have to hold a permanent closer job to be a good RP?

He went through a slump, got replaced, and hasn't had a chance to take the job back. That doesn't mean he hasnt been a great RP for the last 6 years.

Whenever I think of Romo I think of the HR he gave up in Atlanta which should have cost us the series if not for Brooks Conrad. And Also when he got Miguel Cabrera.

Just saying that's what I think of.

I think of the strikeout of Cabrera and the 12 pitch epic battle with Jay Bruce that was about as big of a moment as there was in his career. Sergio was awesome in 2012 as our closer and has been solid as a setup man.

Since he lost his job as the closer, he has been a very good set up man out of the bullpen. I don't see any scenario where he will ever be a closer option for the Giants again, but he certainly is an important part of the Giants bullpen for the foreseeable future.

I can easily see the scenario. All it takes is Casillo getting hurt or a few ineffective outings. It isnt like Santiago Casilla is Wade Davis. I dont understand why anyone would bash Romo though. The guy was a hero in 2012 as our closer and has been one of the better set up men in baseball for several years.

I don't see Romo being the first option if Casilla falters or gets injured.
