He went through a slump, got replaced, and hasn't had a chance to take the job back. That doesn't mean he hasnt been a great RP for the last 6 years.

he's had a chance to take his job back every spring training since he lost it

Since he lost his job as the closer, he has been a very good set up man out of the bullpen. I don't see any scenario where he will ever be a closer option for the Giants again, but he certainly is an important part of the Giants bullpen for the foreseeable future.

I can easily see the scenario. All it takes is Casillo getting hurt or a few ineffective outings. It isnt like Santiago Casilla is Wade Davis. I dont understand why anyone would bash Romo though. The guy was a hero in 2012 as our closer and has been one of the better set up men in baseball for several years.

I don't see Romo being the first option if Casilla falters or gets injured.

Why wouldn't he be? Hes the setup man, and hes closed successfully before...

By "every spring training since", you mean last year?

Romo is a stud. Besides being a hero in 2012, he's been a consistent relief pitcher for the Giants. Plus he is a great clubhouse guy who keeps the team loose. A perfect giant. Love Romo, and almost every team in baseball would love to have him.

I think he's finally going to make the big club this year, he's not getting any younger and he makes a lot more contact than Parker.
As far as the Bryce Harper thing is concerned, we only really know one thing.....

.....that he is absolutely enamored by San Francisco and is publicly showing the city of SF, as well as the Giants, love whenever he has the chance to.

Now, I am not saying that we will have the money for him, or that we have a great chance of signing him. All I am saying is that if a top 3 player in the Major Leagues comes to your team and says he wants to sign with you, your team would have to be run by a bunch of monkeys to not entertain the idea.

Zack Greinke was absolutely enamored with the city of SF too, and hes in Arizona now. All about $$$$, and the Giants arent going to be the highest bidder. They build around their pitching staff, so they arent going devote 400 million to an OF.

Harper is already an injury risk at age 23, and has displayed attitude issues. That kind of money could really hold your franchise hostage, and if he turns out to be a DL regular who alienates teammates, it would be a total disaster.

I think people just need to accept the fact that Harper is not coming here.

Very surprised he stayed in the game but was obviously a good sign. Could have been much worse and always scary to see that happen to anyone.

I'm surprised he seemed fine after taking that hit

And he just looks illegal ... lol. Yep, Romo is great for the Giants for many reasons.

It looked like he got a small piece of it with his glove, and he turned his head back in time for it to mostly glance off his forehead. That was really close to ruining his 2016...
