OH ALSO was at John Stockton's last game. Gave the game program to someone who was a Jazz fan.

yep, I wish he was here again at this point. Not that our team really needs him or anything but enough time has passed that I think he would be good here. Then again just as I was typing that I thought about how he kind of isolated himself in the locker room and pissed all kinds of people off. Just not the type of guy our team is made of these days. No need to taint it, lol, so I just changed mind mid comment. Good luck in Miami though, Barry.
If Bonds came back it wouldn't be the same dynamic. Hed just be a retired player coach. Some of the biggest names in history became coaches, and they dont carry the star power like they used to. Mark McGwire was the biggest name in baseball in the late 90's, and super controversial, and people barely notice hes even in the dugout now as a coach.
Theres no need to make a change right now, but I hope that as soon as we need a hitting coach, Bonds is ready to come back for what would be a better job with his lifelong team.
Huh?
Lol, "lifelong team"...he played 7 years in Pittsburgh and won two MVP's there. I know you probably were really young then and don't remember it, but it did happen. Obviously his MVP's with the Giants and his dad playing there as well was primary, I get it.
I know all about his career. You dont have to have watched something to know baseball history. He grew up in the Giants clubhouse as a kid with his dad. He was first drafted by the Giants before deciding to go to college. He played those 7 years in Pittsburgh, but was immediately interested in coming to SF in 1993, because he considered SF his home. He then played 15 years in SF, and has been involved with ST at times afterwards. He comes to games, and even requested a 2010 WS ring.
Id say that qualifies the Giants as a "lifelong team". Not sure why you felt the need to be patronizing about it...

I think this is a huge factor in whether or not we are a great team or an ok team. Samardzija was god awful last season, and has had a pretty subpar career to this point overall. A lot of Giants fans are assuming he will be good for us....and I am ok with the positivity. But I have always been a lets wait and see type person. Hopefully he is great for us, but he has never really been as good as our fans are expecting him to be.
Huge question mark, IMO.

What are people expecting him to be? His upside is a 2, and his downside is probably a 4. Weighing the odds, he'll probably end up a 3, which is the role we planned for him to fill.
In his career hes pitched like an ace, and like trash. But, hes never lost his stuff, and his control has remained steady. Moving him out of a bandbox and into a big time pitchers park, moving him from the AL to the NL, moving him from an awful D to a very good D, and letting Righetti work some magic gives him some pretty solid odds of being a decent number 3, which is how hes being paid.

I am ready for the season to start. Spring training is just sooo fricking long and boring. There isnt one story coming out of the Giants camp that interests me at all this year.
On a side note.. Ethier is out 10-14 weeks with a broken leg. He isnt a star by any means but that will hurt the Dodgers.

Giants will be playing a game vs the River Cats in Sacramento on I think the 30th. That'll be cool for those of us in Sac.
