hopefully everybody stays healthy

hopefully cain has a bounce back year, at least heston is decent

And hopefully the Shark stops getting hammered.

I think this is a huge factor in whether or not we are a great team or an ok team. Samardzija was god awful last season, and has had a pretty subpar career to this point overall. A lot of Giants fans are assuming he will be good for us....and I am ok with the positivity. But I have always been a lets wait and see type person. Hopefully he is great for us, but he has never really been as good as our fans are expecting him to be.

Huge question mark, IMO.

What are people expecting him to be? His upside is a 2, and his downside is probably a 4. Weighing the odds, he'll probably end up a 3, which is the role we planned for him to fill.

In his career hes pitched like an ace, and like trash. But, hes never lost his stuff, and his control has remained steady. Moving him out of a bandbox and into a big time pitchers park, moving him from the AL to the NL, moving him from an awful D to a very good D, and letting Righetti work some magic gives him some pretty solid odds of being a decent number 3, which is how hes being paid.

Great post 99' but Steve is the guy who thinks we are wrong about Pablo so you might have wasted a good post. Lol

?

Care to elaborate?

They've been fine. Never look at ERA in the spring. The only stat that really means anything for pitchers in ST is K/BB ratio. Are they missing bats? Are they staying in the strike zone? If they are, nothing else concerns me. These guys are shaking off rust and fooling around with new grips, release points, trying everything from the stretch, etc.

Bumgarner - 9 k, 0 bb
Peavy - 15 k, 5 bb
Samardzija - 12 k, 4 bb
Heston - 12 k, 2 bb
Cueto - 4 k, 2 bb
Cain - 4 k, 4 bb

56 k, 17 bb is pretty good for being rusty.

Force of habit for me, too. But these stats makes me feel better.

I picture it going something like this.

No way its Puig. That dude is such a puss. I remember their confrontation last time, where Puig waited until the entire 25 man roster was between him and Bum before he needed to be "held back".
