PGA Tour thread

Monahan told the players to not take the money because of the source, told them to stay loyal to the tour, then took the money himself without saying anything to the players first...and the dude got a promotion to running ALL of golf. LOL what a f**king hypocrite.

Absolute s**t show from the PGA. Players like Tiger and Rory who defended the tour and stayed loyal should be livid.

Agree 100%. Monahan should be fired. Tiger and Rory gave up millions as did some of the other top golfers such as Rahm. Yes, they have a ton of money and set for life but that isnt the point. They didnt turn their back on the tour that made them. Too bad Monahan doesnt have the same morals and integrity.

yep. Hideki Matsuyama turned down $300 million. I never heard what Rahm was offered but it had to be ridiculous. When asked yesterday about players taking the money and coming back, Monahan had no answer for it.

If he's allowed to remain CEO of golf, it will be absolutely f**ked.

He shouldn't have an answer. It's not his job, to compensate players, who turned down compensation. That's the job of the players, to take the compensation when offered, or turn it down. They turned it down. That was their choice.

Monahan's actions to me were fairly predictable. Protect and grow PGA tour. Demonize LIV, and do everything in your power, to limit player defections. It was a buzzsaw he ran into on his watch, this hyper funded rival league, coming for slices of the PGA tour. He could have fought them tooth and nail for years, but that gets exhausting and divides the sport and player base. Mergers are sometimes the optimal outcome.
So are the actual golf fans gonna do anything in protest or will business just carry on? Seems to be pretty crazy that the Saudis can get away with funding terrorism, murdering journalists and constantly be shady as hell without any consequences ever.
We buy billions of dollars worth oil and sell billions of dollars worth of weapons to SA - and we know who they are. I have never understood criticizing American players or American organizations to do business with them while our govt is literally doing everything possible to keep them "royals" in power.

I think what happened here is PGA Tour as a commercial entity did all in their power to demonize LIV, as they viewed LIV as coming for the slices of PGA Tour pie. So if that means somehow tying a fledgling golf tournament to terror attacks from decades ago, so be it. And a lot of folks were sold on this idea, and very anti LIV as a consequence. I don't view it as politics. It's a golf association.
Uh oh. Monahan has taken ill before the Open. Saudi's didn't want him to feel guilty and sing.
Monahan should know to have a food tester these days.

With the marine layer back and the course not as fast there should be some great scoring today. I look for the winner to be -12 minimum.
