On the day before the kick-off of WC 2018 in the Russian Federation, all the Football/Soccer buzz
on this side of the planet, surrounds around which bid will win the right to host the event in 2026.

After being snubbed for the 2022 games, the United States, has teamed with their neighbours (from their Northern and Southern
borders), in an attempt to secure the games. Morocco (IMO), faces an uphill battle when the voters meet today to decide … albeit,
stranger things have happened

"Only two bids have made it to the final vote, which will be held during the 68th FIFA Congress in Moscow:
Morocco's and a joint application from Canada, the United States and Mexico that has been dubbed the United Bid"

A total of 210 members are present and eligible to vote but seven will abstain:
the four countries directly involved
  • USA, Canada, Mexico
  • Morocco
  • 3 USA Governed territories: Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands

The remaining 203 voting members were prompted to vote electronically and were given :15 seconds to cast their ballots.
The voters were given 3 choices:
  • United Bid
  • Morocco
  • None
The voters cast their ballots via electronic ballots, and were given 0:15 seconds to do so

The United bid won the vote, and will host World Cup 2026, with:
  • 10 matches in Canada
  • 10 matches in Mexico
  • 60 matches in the USA

Should be an interesting 2026. To be fair though, the WC right now in russia is massively spread out as well.

Also, crazy news about Spain firing their coach just a day before the cup because he accepted a job at Real Madrid

I read Ramos and few of the players asked the president of Spain's soccer federation not to fire the HC, but he still pulled the trigger.

The premier league is sanitised, a lot of clubs have lost a lot of identity to cater to corporate & financial gains, at least in the championship it still has the feel of what football used to be before money took over
