The raiders had plenty of chances to score but the roosters D was very impressive.

Very had to hear a changed call (from 6 again to last) with crowd noise and as a player you've made your decision to run the ball to setup the next set.

The other call for me which has to be looked at is when the charge down ricocheted off the roosters player and is deemed a roosters feed.
That rule definitely has to be changed.

Yes, and the chargedown hitting a trainer when the Raiders were going to be pressing the Chooks line very early in the game
The latest ruling on the 6 again is that even not correct when given it shouldn't have been reversed and the original decision should have been allowed to continue. Dems da rools

Sorry meant ricocheted off the roosters trainer, Whitehead would have most certainly scored.

Well that's football

It's a stupid rule though Goatie, why should the team who made the charge down be penalized when it was the opposing team's trainer getting in the way of a potential scoring situation?

Yeah I get it but NRL management has some buffoons making rules. Also some boofheads enforcing them.

Hard .. V hard to define a try scoring opportunity as they can manifest in the blink of an eye in the modern game. In the event of a freakish thing like what happened where the attacking team support trainer ( allowed to be there) got a deflection of a unexpected chargedown its a scrum for me. Same as a deflection off the ref.
Best team should win anyways.
What are we thinking about the AUS/NZ test coming up in a week and a bit?
Should NRL players start wearing helmets with all the medical news regarding concussions? Do helmets actually do any good?

It's an interesting one isn't it.
I think there'll be a time when headgear is compulsory.
Helmets no, as it would be difficult in scrums, especially in rugby union.

Well scrums are a joke in NRL. I remember the good old days with the loose arm, gouging the eyes, the all ins that came from it, pushing over the otherside's props and second rows. Now the feeding team mose well just tap in on their bloody foot and run with it.

I wonder if helmets actually do any good for concussion any way. I always saw concussion as the braining banging around in the skull after an impact or two. A helmet isn't going to stop that. It will stop abrasions, broken noses and teeth. Just not sure about concussion.

Yep
The high shots are being scrutinized heavy now
One that is seen a lot at the present is the friendly fire one where
there is a few in the tackle and the defenders clash heads in making the tackle.
A contact sport is going to have a certain amount of carnage and all the participants seem to acknowledge this
Head gear such as worn by Soward/Thurston/Croker/Ponga etc may help with some of the damage
It'l prob be part of the future game

Ah so he did retire. Shame. He was great for the game.

Sad his marriage is on the rocks. She looked like hard work. I really hope he doesn't make another mistake and hook up with that Jessica (duck lips) from MAFS. Anything other than a dirty weekend with that girl could get messy. She will do his head in.

Holy Cow
Terrific Tonga Team Tumbles Terrible Top dog Team ( Aus) in a Torrid Tournament Today !!!
Aussies seemed lacklustre and disinterested in a game full of spirit from the Tongan's
Well deserved win boosts the international potential of the Island communitys good for the sport
