I saw some of the footage of the Knights v Tigers game. Those lucky people who live next to Leichardt Oval who could go onto their baloneys or look out their apartment windows to see the game!
Meminds me of the " lucky" people who lived across from the old drive in picture theater when we were teeny boppers
They never missed a new screening

With qld border closures, how will that affect league?

The idea I have heard is to set up a big camp in central QLD at Calliope , near Gladstone (happy rock)
Dunno how it will go the minute one single player or staff at the camp tests positive
Internet will help all us fans in the event season postpone/cancell when we are all forced into isolation
Hell.. we could bring up all kinds of entertaining stuff from the past to eat away the days/weeks/months

While this was being typed it happened
NRL shut down to be reviewed in May
Now we need distractions
Soldier on mates

Let the lockdown games begin
Who has a grand final memorable moment that we can all
chew over as a distraction of the crisis we have to endure
for a while?

I was at the 1975 Grand Final watch Graeme Langlands running around all weird with white boots on. Just wasn't going to be his day.

I diddn't see the white boots one but can imagine that at the
time would have looked like a bit of a show off even being the great player that
he was.
Poor Ben Hunt.. That one I was watching at the time
He wanted to just disappear after that mistake. Poor bugger.
Mine would be Chikka Ferguson going against the grain to sink the Tigers.
A close second was when Terry Lamb decked the English import Ellery Hanley a year earlier

is that common in rugby? we have muff punts in the NFL, and of course that infamous playoff game muff against the Giants.

Often happens more than once in a game
The backline players can have to catch numerous kicks during the 80 mins field time
with opposition chasers trying to make them fail

Yeah man, dropping kickoffs or punts happens fairly regularly in rugby league.

The signifigance of Ben Hunt's dropped kickoff was the situation. The Brisbane Broncos had been leading all game until North Queensland Cowboys scored a try (touchdown) to level the game and a sideline conversion to win (think PAT, but from the sideline). Cowboys legend Johnathon Thurston hit the goalpost with the attempt and the game went to Golden Point Extra Time (OT).

In RL each team doesnt have a right to an offensive possession in overtime, so Ben Hunts muff off the kickoff lead directly to a Cowboys field goal and game over.

Why is it so common though? It looks like a regular kick off most of the time, but I do know Aussies use different spin on the ball and what not. Is that the reason?

Sorry mate i probably overstated the frequency at which it happens. Muffed punts happen more frequently in rugby league because the kicks can be contested by the kicking team.

Muffed or "knocked on" kickoffs happen much more rarely, probably only a few times per season per team.

It is strange more are muffed in the NRL to NFL. The ball is bigger so it should be easier to see and catch.

Perhaps because guys are not all specialist catchers and returners. But in NRL it is usually the role of the full back to catch the bombs and deep kick offs.
