I know he was popular, but not being a Warriors fan I guess I don't know. Was he really THAT popular of a player for you guys to honor him that way?

J Rich was certainly popular. But, I think the management of the Dubs is also doing this to show players how they treat their guys even after their playing days are done. Smart move. It just might make a player decide to stay with the team rather than leave.

Gotcha. I expect something like this from Lakers/Kobe, Spurs/Duncan, Heat/Wade, etc. Just didn't understand if he really was THAT big of a deal for the GSW.

He certainly wasn't as big as the guys you mentioned but J Rich represents the positive of the Cohan era. He was a diamond in the pile of s**t that was the Cohan era, before we drafted him we had issues winning 20 games, he actually had some promise even if it was just the dunk contest he got the Warriors exposure at a time the league wouldn't acknowledge our existence. Not to mention he was a key part of We Believe, we cheered despite being awful but he gave us a reason to cheer.

All of this. Dude was a class act off the court as well.
Will definitely be in the building for the JRich night. Cant wait. One of my all time favorite Warrior players.

Will never forget this:

Yep. Don't want this game to be even close.

Ty Lawson's got some coming to him too from his "Curry chillin' on D" comments....and now he's saying he's going to run Curry off the 3-pt line.

I don't think a single public slight of the Warriors' title escaped Bogut, Green, Thompson....or Curry. F**k I hope he drops the hammer tonight.

Warriors are following the SF Giants model, who probably honor former players more than any franchise in sports.
