Same here. That's why I thought for sure he was goner simply because we couldn't afford him. Was surprised to here he was available for the minimum, even more surprised to hear he got it from the Clippers and not us.

I guess it's a pretty clear indicator the Dubs weren't all too interested in having him back. The addition of David West might have made him more expendable, since West brings the same pick and pop mid-range game to the table.

Exactly what I was thinking about the Dubs' addition of West maybe making Speights more expendable. Now, I'd like a backup C that can protect the rim and also DLee as an active big man who can battle inside for rebounds but can also score inside to help that aspect of the team. Also, another G would be nice...if Ray Allen can still shoot it well and can still move somewhat without being too much of a D liability, I'd consider him. Or, Martin as others have mentioned as he's instant offense of the bench (ugly shot and all). What about Jarrett Jack - I wonder if he's recovering well from his knee injury? Probably wouldn't be open to playing for the veterans' min., though.

I prefer Martin much more than Jack. Jack is a good player but the Dubs need a bigger SG than another PG in my opinion. As for Allen, I was intrigued at first but the more I think about it the more skeptical I am that he could come back and be productive. Kevin Martin is the way to go if he will take minimum.

I also thought Festus would get more than 2/16 given what has been thrown out there. His finals performance hurt his deal. Really wish we could have kept him but there was simply no way.

I cannot believe the Blazers got Festus at that price in this crazy FA market. Now, I'm really hoping Damian Jones can prove to be a better all-around player than Festus as soon as he comes back from his injury. He just looks so much more athletic and fluid than Festus on both offense and defense.

Not sure I would count on Jones for anything this year given his injury. I do expect a lot of time in Santa Cruz once he is cleared to play.

Yup. His performance and injury history probably hurt his value a lot. Still, the Blazers got a nice bargain considering guys like Jon Leuer and Solomon Hill got 10+ per over 4 years.
I forget sometimes that Nash is part of the Warriors organization. Damn Joe Lacob is a smart man to bring Jerry West and Steve Nash on board.

How much of a role did Steve Nash play in luring Kevin Durant to Golden State?

"Without Steve Nash, I'm not sure if we get Kevin Durant," one Warriors official toldSports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins.
According to Marcus Thompson the Warriors never offer Mo a contract.

I thought his skill set would appeal more to other teams in need of shooting.

We needed more rugged interior presence instead of a 3 and mole guy.

The Warriors re-sign James Michael McAdoo to a one-year deal, source tells @TheUndefeated.
Mcadoo is back. Not sure why they didn't get Mo over Mcadoo.

Agreed plus I think David West can do everything Speights can, besides from 3. West is a better interior scorer as well

Down to 2 spots. HAS to be a Center and SG

Curious to hear what the contract details are. This article broke down an interesting scenario:

http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/news/kevin-durant-contract-warriors-salary-cap-signing-free-agency-golden-state/1pjr53ldjp74d1lj455zv9tn8o

The more interesting machinations come in the rest of the roster spots. Golden State decided to make both James Michael McAdoo and Ian Clark unrestricted free agents, but they have Early Bird rights on McAdoo, meaning they can go over the salary cap (and his minimum hold) for a contract could be worth as much as the estimated average player salary ($6.191 million for this season) that must run at least two seasons. The Warriors cannot do that for Clark because he only has one year with the team but can with veteran swingman Brandon Rush, who started part of last season while Barnes was hurt.

Signing both to the maximum allowable for the first season with a team-friendly non-guaranteed or partially guaranteed second season would give the Warriors two additional quality bench players on serious raises who are also potential contracts to trade by the February deadline or next summer if the right situation presents itself.

Missed out on setting up a scenario like that with Rush since he signed with Minnesota, but maybe we did something like that with McAdoo.
