Didn't Kyrie just outplay Steph in an NBA finals? Wouldn't that make him pretty good?
So would you say that Kyrie is better than Steph? Would you rather have Kyrie instead of Steph? I think the answer to both of those questions is obvious. Ky is a star in this league but I'm not going to all of a sudden say he's a top 5 player in the L because of his finals performance. He showed up big for the Cavs when they needed him most. Well done, Kyrie.
I think his Finals performance just opened eyes to a lot of people who didn't care to watch him play before. Kyrie is and has always been a phenomenal offensive talent. He led the Cavs in scoring this year in the playoffs up until the Finals (where he still averaged 28 a game vs the best defense in the league). His problem before was 1) his inability to stay healthy and 2) his willingness to go 1 on 1 ALL OF THE TIME as opposed to putting the ball in motion (as a PG). Steph is on a different planet shooting the ball and is underrated when it comes to finishing at the basket but him and Kyrie are just two different players on the offensive end and both are elite with the ball in their hands so comparing them is tough. One thing we know for a fact, with everything on the line, Kyrie will not shy away from the moment...

No no, i definitely don't think Kyrie is better than Steph. Think we were saying hes a top 5 PG, not player.

PGs I would take right now over Kyrie.
Curry, Westbrook, and maybe Lillard. and if it's just a year one rental, i'd take Paul.
Who else is better than him? Kemba, Bledsoe, Wall, Conley? Nobody would take them over Kyrie.
And yes, it's really important to have a good playoffs / finals like he did. Sure Curry might be better, but the last 2 finals he's stunk it up. At least you can trust Kyrie in the playoffs.

John Wall is close with Irving. He's not far off Westbrook as an athlete - Irving is the better shooter, but Wall is a much better defender. Chris Paul is a better PG right now, but everyone would take Irving long term. That still leaves Irving as at worst the 6th best PG in the league.

I really don't think so. I think all of our tradeable assets would be very undervalued right now. If we were to trade Russel or Randle right now, it would be at their lowest value after a rough rookie season for both (ya im counting as Randle as a rookie). If we were actually thinking about trading, which i don't think we are, I'd say it'd be deep into the season where our guys show more potential. I think Russel is going to be considerably better than last year, with Randle and Clarkson making decent strides. I think Mitch likes our core and wants to see how they grow.

Agree, we won't get too much for anybody right now. Better to see how everybody progresses this year, and look towards FA / Draft again.
FA doesn't look that solid next year, a lot of Restricted guy. Notable FAs are Westbrook, Curry (who's gonna resign), Durant, who's on a player option. and Griffin.
Griffin is interesting, because Paul is also on a player option, and he can hit FA if he wants. I don't see Griffin wasting his prime years on a team that will be a 8 or 7 seed at best without Paul. However, Balmer is gonna do all he can to keep both of them.
Gordon Heyward is a guy we might have a shot at. He's on a player option, so he's most likely going to opt out to make more money. Gobbert is also a RFA next year so they will have to make him a priority as well. I don't think they'll keep Heyward, and I would sign him to be our starting SG.

I've been reading LA attempting to trade for Cousins and Butler? Any truth or possibility for this?

Not sure as rumors a just that, but I do know that the front office and Luke are very high on the young core of this team, so I'd be surprised if they were gonna trade for cousins the head case and give up some of that core. Butler would command a lot of that core leaving as we really don't have any picks to trade, so I'll believe it if and when it happens.

the only time i think it's okay to give up picks / young players for a proven player, is if you already have a good team and you can contend.
if you don't have a team ready to contented, the person you're trading for better be the type of player that can carry the team. in our case, Butler or Cousins isn't that guy.
