This is the reason that Lebron may leave after next season. As soon as he knows his team cant compete with Boston he will take his talents elsewhere. Its going to be an interesting off season but if Boston can trade for Butler and sign Haywood look out.

They'll soon be paying Horford and IT 30million each.

Horford is locked up for the next 2 years at under 30M. In 2019-20 he has a player option for 30.1M. Right now they are in a much better financial situation than Cleveland thats for sure and can easily add star players (which the Cavs probably cant do without trading Love or Kyrie)

28m next season for Horford...that's close enough.

Of course they're in better financial situation - they have 1 all-star on the team...and they've yet to pay him. They can add only one max player this summer and once they extend IT they'll be maxed out.

They can trade for players but you've to then start sending players in return to match salaries.

Just sayin... I would rather be in the Celtics position than the Cavs. They are going to be a team on the rise in my opinion because they have the ability to add a max player, have a boatload of top picks, and can be creative in dealing given the assets they have.

I think the Cavs have one more year of relevance and then they will be done while Boston and Philly will be the dominant teams in the East.

I don't know about 1 more year or relevance. Lebron just had one of his best year and Kyrie's best is ahead of him. It will take these guys at least 3-4 years to play upto their potential.

I think ppl buy into potential way too much.

We shall see if Lebron sticks after next season. We know he will be there in 17-18 and that the Cavs will contend. After that? Who knows. If he leaves the Cavs are no longer very relevant and the power will have shifted.

Is PG as ball dominant as I think he is? Not sure he is the best fit in Cleveland but no doubt you add another player of his caliber if you can.

In a nutshell, PG is a better player than Kevin Love but does he really fit the Cavs better? Especially when he wants to go to LA in 2018?

Ainge's not evaluating talent

He's weighing pros and cons here. How is anybody not seeing this?? I can post the stats or just tell you Bradley is VERY reasonably going to post close to 19 PPG, 6-7 RBS while shooting a 40.0 clip from 3pt.

Boston had the 1-seed. Boston got the 1st pick. What does a team with a PG who scores 30 a game and that guy alongside him do? Wait a minute, their C is 32 and the two F positions were mixing and matching rookie Brown, mediocre Crowder and the wretched Amir Johnson. Even in the best of cases that's an undersized frontcourt.

The draft board features two elite PG prospects and two more elite F prospects. As it turns out a team is willing to give you a likely Top 5-10 pick next year or the year after that if you'll draft one of the two F.

I'm trying to make this simple.

GM takes the deal. Worst case draft scenario is ending up with the other elite PG instead of the F he preferred. The PG is a marketing frenzy just waiting to happen and it turns out a team people forget has a franchise is drafting next. More leverage.

Simplicity simplified, that's: Add 2 future 1st rounders, fill the F position with a guy who is said to be the best pure scoring prospect by the same people drooling over Fultz. As the worst case scenario.

For those paying attention that's Thomas-Bradley-Tatum-Brown-Horford. With 173 starts in 2016 on the bench in case something goes wrong on the court. Off the court, that's whatever Sacramento coughs up for Ball and a 2019 1st rounder. Best or realistic case? A true PF in Jackson and a great f***ing pick in a year or two.

Or you can add a really good PG to the Thomas-Bradley-Smart hardship.

None of this involved crystal balls or scouting. It's using info already provided and playing the odds. Filling team holes and adding later picks was how Ainge decided he'd win more now and in the future – yeah, terrible strategy.
Hurry up bulls trade Butler so Wade will opt out
SO the Cavs fired their GM days before the draft? LUL
Lebron will be a Laker to join forces with PG and build that young team with Magic. Lebron even at 33 will have the Lakers in the WCF, with Magic and Lebron they can get anyone to come to the Lakers

If it wasn't for the warriors smartly drafting curry, klay, green and signing durant, lebabay would be celebrating a three-peat with his store bought team.

look I know you hate Lebron but it gets old when you twist things that don't even make sense anymore.
