That's a huge, one-sided trade. Where's Stern to shut it down?

Commissioners dont shut down one sided trades.

He did when CP3 was going to the Lakers. I was being sarcastic but apparently people didn't catch on.

This. Only question with the Rockets is how their defense will/should improve.

But I still think he would have been better with the Spurs, as others have alluded.

You think Houston's defense will improve after this trade? I'd imagine that moving Beverly for Paul doesn't move the needle up defensively with both being top defensive talents at the guard position. It does improve them offensively with the their starting lineup but weakens the bench with the departure of Williams and Dekker, even with Gordon still being around. I always felt one advantage Houston had over most teams was the firepower they could hit you with every night off the bench, not sure that will be the case anymore.

Also, we shall see if CP3 can stay healthy this coming season as well.

LOL

That was the point. With the trade, how does/should Houston's defense improve? They actually lost one decent defender with Beverly so how do they gain something back in return?

Ahhh I see, i misinterpreted your post, sorry bout that.

Aside from the defense, it will also be interesting to see how two guys who thrive with the ball constantly in their hands will co-exist. If CP3 handles a large amount of the ball handling, I think it is safe to say Harden will find it much more difficult to draw fouls and get to the line. Should be interesting.

Small difference though, the league owned the Hornets at the time.

I caught on to the sarcasm. Just tired of seeing people complain about that without knowing the full story. Yes, Stern technically nixed the deal, but the owners would have voted it down even if he didnt.

Huge difference you mean.

Good trade for the Rockets. Imo I think Chris Paul is a better fit with the Spurs.

100%. I would have been way more worried as a Dubs fan if he went there.
CP3 and Harden is a weird fit imo. You are talking about two very ball dominant players. They can't both dribble-drive off the PnR at the same time. One of them will be off the ball on a given possession and neither is comfortable doing that. It will be a your turn, my turn scenario.

It'll "work" to an extent because they are both great players, but this doesn't make the Rockets any more of a "contender" than they were before. We'll see what else they do.

Wait, what? Owners shut down a trade? I've never heard of that. I thought the only reason that stearn was able to shut that down was the NBA was running the hornets at the time.

IKR...Then if that's the case I would shut down all good trades if it's not my team.
Harden will never win a championship. He doesn't play D nor does he want to.
Does Daryl Morey know only one basketball at a time is allowed on the court? Maybe I'm just missing something and will be proven wrong, but I don't see how this makes the Rockets any better...and they had to give up some promising young players in Dekker and the guy I really like, Harrell. My guess is Morey has another big move up his sleeve like maybe Heyward (or George???).

Chris Paul under Mike D'Antoni?

Imagine if he loses weight and isn't chubby anymore?
