It is actually funny looking at Twitter in regards to this trade. Both Celtics and 76ers fans both believe that they ripped the other off. And actually, I dont necessarily disagree that it could go either way. Problem is, true evaluation of this trade wont make sense for like 4+ years.
If Fultz becomes a generational star like some believe, Ainge absolutely blew it by making this trade.
If Fultz is good, but the guy they pick at 3 is almost as good, Ainge made a great trade.
But to Arminini's point, at some point, they are going to need to stop collecting "good" prospects and get someone great. I know easier said than done, but how Ainge is collecting #1s MAY end up biting him if he doesnt use those to get a star. I mean, look at this...
2017 PHI 1st
2018 BOS 1st
2018 LAL 1st
2018 BKN 1st
2019 BOS 1st
2019 LAC 1st
2019 SAC 1st
2019 MEM 1st
We will see what Ainge can do with this.

I hear you, but many believe Fultz will be great. They already had 6 first rounders before this recent deal.
At what point do you try for the best available prospect and hope he becomes that next great player and stop trying to stack #1s?

Nope. Boston has Brooklyn's first and second rounders in 2018, and then its done.

It the #1 pick was someone like Towns or Davis obviously Ainge wouldnt make this deal. I'm not sure Fultz is much better than Jackson and I believe that is what Ainge thinks too. Really, the most exciting player I saw last year was Fox and I wouldnt be shocked if he turns out to be the best out of this class. Or Jackson, Or Fultz. Kind of a toss up which is why I think the deal was made by Boston.

Does Fultz' 9-20 record this past season play any part? I heard this question on the radio a few days ago essentially alluding to the fact that as good Fultz is, he still couldn't make his college team respectable and for a #1 overall pick, that's odd. I'm not sure it matters personally, just asking your thoughts...

I think NBA evaluators and experts like Ainge are smart enough to look past that.

I don't think we have seen anything like that from the #1 pick before...at least I can't think of one off the top of my head

I was curious and decided to look. You have to go back to 1972 when Portland took LaRue Martin #1. His team, Loyola of Chicago, went 8-14 his Senior year. They took him one pick before Bob McAdoo was selected. Maybe they should pass on Fultz afterall. lol

Damn son Lebrons been working overtime. It's tough to be the gm, coach, and player at the same time.
