This is worse than playing, losing and walking off early like some stars have. I'd have a hard time accepting a guy like that in the theorhetical sense I was actually still an athlete and played in the NBA lol

Agreed. The lack of support he is giving the organization and his teammates is incredible. He must really be butt hurt over things said about him by the Spurs. I've got zero respect for him now.

Maybe he just doesn't have the fire. I mean, the dude still drives a 1997 Tahoe and still uses fast food coupons. From my experience, there is a grey area and some overlap between being humble and just not having the desire to be the best.

San Antonio is a small market with great fans, now he comes to LA where his life will be scrutinized. Can he handle it?

He went to SD State. May be a good fit.

What does that have to do with not supporting his teammates though?

This x 100000000.

He comes off as a total douche. What he's doing is completely ridiculous. How do you ever gain trust of any teammate on any team ever again?

I don't think Kawhi cares about the trust of his teammates. He is making himself look really bad. He just wants to be off the team, at all costs. He knows he'll still get a max contract somewhere because of his talent.

What a bizarre situation.

No one here really knows the situation. There seems to be bad blood both ways, and maybe his presence on the bench would be a distraction? Or at least it would be a hollow gesture. Point is, none of us knows. And unless the Spurs are your team, why would you care anyway?

Can't believe Blazers are s**tting the bed so hard.

The Pelicans are a bad matchup for the Blazers. And the Pels are on fire now. Mirotic for Cousins in the lineup is a total upgrade. The look like the best team in the playoffs right now, but I will reserve judgement until they play a team that matches up better with them. I think the Blazers are due for some type of change ... lineup, coach or both. Move Lillard or McCollum for a rangy 3&D wing? That combo is just too weak on defense, and a strong slashers like Holiday/Rondo are just eating their lunch.

Because there's this thing called sports fandom. Without there would be no NBA ... or NFL, MLS, MLB. Ratings would be terrible if people only watched games with their team, only read articles about their team ... etc.

San Antonio is actually the 7th most populated city in America, and only has to support one team. Technically that makes them a pretty large market.

Has nothing to do with your point, I just figured id mention it.

Actually we know quite a bit about the situation. His coaches and teammates think he's completely fine to play but is staying away. They have taken several shots at him in public - from an organization that has always been very classy and taken care of its players.

We also know that he is not happy with the shoe deal offer he received from Nike and it has been rumored that shoe companies are willing to offer him a bigger deal if he's in a bigger market.

And I care because I love the NBA and Kawhi imo was one of the top 10 players in the league. I didn't over rate like many by calling him too 3 or top 5 but I believed he's just a tier below and I enjoy watching great players play.

I think it's not even in the top 30 media markets, though. Not a "sexy" market.

Well, he is happily cashing checks from the Spurs though. What a chump.

No conflict of interest medically from 'team' medical staffs, right. This is the same staff that cleared Parker for a quad blowout. And the same team / coach that had him playing on a twice sprained ankle in the playoffs. It is a bad look, him not being there. But Leonard never speaks, so we'll probably never know his side.

If I was a GM, no way in hell I give Cousins a max. Pels are better w/o him. Says a lot
