Carrying a team to the finals and losing is not unheard of see Barkley also Bron is playing with another all Star in love who's a 20/10 guy away from brons style of play. What's more special is winning it like Kobe did with his group of plumbers or Dirk and his plumbers over brons superteam.

Dirtiest player ever.

Vintage Laimbeer when he baited Parrish into punching him during a playoff game , knocking him unconscious, first thing he says once they revived him with smelling salts...."did they eject him?" Lol

Don't care much for the goat discussion - but I agree.

I've never seen anyone do what he's doing and at such efficiency.

Have you elevated him to #2 yet ahead of Kareem? To me, there is no doubt he is 2nd all time. But, I also dont think he will ever pass MJ.

He didn't get ejected either. Refs probably told him you know you had that coming.

It's hard to put any C in the top 5 or even top 10. As good as Kareem was, he wasn't winning without somebody who can pass him the ball and also score. Same went for Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan, KG, etc.. MJ just needed another dance partner, and so does Lebron, but it doesn't matter who they are. Bron can win a championship if he has another great player playing with him, no matter the position. But a C, won't win with another PF or C next to him if there is no great scorer or passer on the team.

I completely disagree. Every player needs help to win championships regardless of what position they play. I would put Wilt and Kareem in my top 5 along with MJ, Lebron, and Magic. Hakeem , Shaq, and Bill Russell would make my next along with Bird, Duncan, and Kobe.

MJ, Bron, those two for example, they can win with any other great player playing next to them. Bron can have a SF as his go to guy, and still win, MJ could have a SG as his go to guy and still win. Shaq, Hakeem, their other dance partner needed to be a G or SF at worst, they wouldn't have won championships if they had another great PF/C next to them. MJ didn't need a great C, he did with a SF (Pippen), and Bron did with a PG (Irving) and SG (Wade).

I love Kareem and Shaq as a Laker fan, but they needed guard help to win.

why wilt and kareem over bill if you don't mind me asking? Not knocking Kareem as much as I am wilt.

All this talk about LeBron going so many minutes but people don't realize that we had 7 footers doing this back in the 60s and 70s.

If they kept defensive stats back in the day I wouldn't be surprised if bill averaged 4-5 blocks and 2-3 steals per game.

Charmberlain and Kareem had a better offensive skillset though.

When measuring the goat, I think a variety of factors come into play, just my thinking personally.

Leadership, clutch, impact to the game (changing the way it was played) stats, chemistry with your team, legacy and championships.

I believe LeBron falls short in multiple categories. All time great, not my goat doh.

Because I actually watched them both play and Wilt was easily the more dominant and skilled player. He didnt have the great players surrounding him like Russell had and therefore didnt win anywhere near the total championships. I am not one, however, that judges greatness purely on how many rings a player has. In the 94 regular season games they played against each other Wilt dominated with stats...
  • Wilt 29.9 PPG 28.2 Rebounds per game
  • Bill 1.2 PPG 22.9 rebounds per game

In the years where Wilt DID have great players with him his teams had the 3rd and 5th best regular seasons ever and won NBA titles. Included with that was the all time winning streak of 33 games with the Lakers.

Splitting hairs though. I have Wilt in top 5 and Bill in top 10. Not that big of a deal.

never said bill was as skilled offensively as wilt, and wilt Chamberlain baylor and west lost to bill and the celts. Is that not enough talent for you?

You cite regular season head to head games but leave out the post season where bill has the most impressive resume of any player all time. And chamberlain notoriously struggled in the clutch. Their playoffs stats were very similar actually. But Russel always bested wilt on top of it.

Boston's next best players to me were cousey and Sam Jones.

I guess I value different things in basketball than you.

Here's a fun fact when wilt averaged 50 ppg, he didn't even win the mvp, Russel did.

Russel also won more mvps than wilt 5-4, so maybe I'm not the only 1 that valued Russell's defense to wolf's offense by we are splitting hairs.

You asked and I gave you my opinion. I believe Wilt was the better and more dominant player and Russell benefited more from having an amazing team around him when he played the 76ers. MVPs are meaningless in this discussion. Obviously Bill , playing on great Celtics teams, was more likely to win MVPs. I think its actually remarkable that Wilt has only 1 less to be honest.

Not taking anything away from Russell by the way. He was certainly a top 10 player

BTW.. where do you put Lebron? I am not going to go back and look at your posts.
