after all he's done this post-season, game 7, the constant 40+ points, then beating the warriors with the same team? It doesn't get any more validated than that. even if he has Finals losses and even if he were to have 2 less rings. you just cant ignore the insurmountable circumstances and still look the other way

Sure you can because it doesn't matter if you win in game 4 or 7 what matters is the wins. MJ has more. A lot more. Double the amount to be exact. More Finals MVP's, more regular season MVP's. He averages more ppg in the playoffs, more ppg in the Finals. There's literally no argument for LeBron other than he plays today I want to say I saw the best. You didn't.

that's just nit-picking. you need to take more into account than just stats. It's also the way in which you win under the dire circumstances faced. can't ignore that. but I guess you're an example of someone who can. there is an argument. only the feeble minded are the one's who choose to ignore.

So no stats, no wins and losses, no best play player awards. What are we down to? Dick size?

isn't that you just sticking to stat comparisons? expand your mind
Five years ago people were arguing Kobe > MJ and now Kobe doesn't crack many people's top 5.
I wonder how this debate will look in five or ten years and how much the "now" influences the debate vs. how much Jordan's legend influences it.

Very true but I do think LeBron has surpassed Kobe even with Kobe having more rings. Kobe won 2 titles as team mvp and then 3 as the secondary player. He's a legendary player no doubt but I would take LeBron's 8 straight Finals appearances, 3 titles over him.

If LeBron doesn't win at least 2 more rings he's going to fall well short of MJ's legacy and people will move onto to the next guy.

I would put Kobe somewhere around 10.
LeBron is already in my top 3 and I think he stays there awhile.

I see nothing wrong with this opinion, top 3 or top 5 is fair.

Only reason why I jumped in this debate was cuz folks were claiming the debate was over and bron was the goat hands down. If anything Jordan is the goat

Sorry but that is b******t. Even if LeBron won 2-3 more, you could still debate who the goat is.

when did anybody say the debate was over? do you not know what the word 'hypothetical' means?
MJ...forever

stop being defensive. That wasn't directed @ you. Plenty of posters have said that over the last week. Only to retract their statements and say LeBron is def top 5.

If we can agree that in this point in time LeBron is not considered the goat, but is at least a top 5 all time player.. Then I'll stfu which is what you all probably want.
Back to Durant. What would it take for him or curry to enter the top 10 all time players debate? I think curry is already the best all time shooter, if he wins 3-4 championships, he's gotta be at least top 15, maybe top 10. Same with durant

i dont really care. in my opinion, if he pulls this off against the Warriors this year, he's pretty much neck-in-neck with Jordan despite less numbers in particular categories. Just my opinion.

I agree, if JR pulls this off he is officially the goatest surpassing Jordan

Also tristan tomson needs too be mentioned for making it to 4 strait finals while carrying lebrun as dead wait. Lebrun had to join his squad to win in Cleveland, couldn't do t before they drafted him. Smh

In my book, LeBron will become the GOAT if he averages a triple double against the Warriors and beats them .
