Losing to the best team of all time this year doesn't hurt his legacy IMO.

Beating this team could put him ahead of Jordan in many peoples eyes .

Not anyone who saw Jordan's career. How anyone thinks he could be greater than Jordan with a losing record in the Finals baffles me.

Were in a weird era where people now think quantity is more valuable than quality. "OMG LeBron went to 9 Finals!" Hes 3 games away from being 3-6. Obviously going to 9 Finals, with 8 in a row is very impressive, but if you want to be the GOAT, 3-6 just doesn't do it.

Jordan is my goat

But if lebron beats this team it would be the biggest accomplishment I've seen ever.

If Lebron plays at this level for for another 4 years he will win more over. And if he does he can still catch up to Kobe or MJ

Agreed to an extent but you can't fault someone for being on a inferior team. After this year 3 of Lebron's title losses he was massively outgunned. You can never say that about MJ. He was great, he was surrounded by great too.

But anyway you slice Lebron has also lost some winnable series too which MJ never did once breaking thru.

He's only had the the best team once when he lost in the finals, and that was to Dallas. You can be MJ w/ Curry's shooting ability, but if you don't have the talent around you, winning won't be easy, especially against a team with 4 HOF players.. Plus, MJ never had to play with somebody like JR Smith, probably would've lost a finals or two if he did.

Today was a goat like performance in a loss. No matter how this series goes down I'd hold back on the shade. He's obviously outgunned.

I'm not shading him. I'm calling it how I see it. Since this is the goat thread he still hasn't come close to Jordan's accomplishments.

The knock on his teammates is overblown. They aren't great but they aren't terrible.

Let's see how he bounces back from an L.

IMO the there is no debate to begin with, but if LeBron drops 3 of 4 Finals' to the Warriors, he has no business being in a GOAT conversation. He will also have fallen to 3-6 in the Finals, which is pure mediocrity in the realm of greats in their career defining moments.

I believe MJ is the GOAT. However, in no way should Lebron's legacy as a player be diminished if he loses 3 of 4 to the Warriors. Hell, beating them once, especially a team that went 73-9, is a hell of an accomplishment. I just have never been one that measures a GOAT by the number of titles a player has one. I think Willie Mays is the GOAT in baseball and he only won 1 World Series championship.

When you are arguing #1 versus #2, you essentially need to get to the point where you are splitting hairs. And to ignore Finals wins/losses is not something I can get behind. Obviously titles are not the end all, but to not even use them as a factor is not something I will ever agree with. Its a huge factor.

JR Smith, K.Love, T.Thompson...they might not be the greatest players in the league but they've been his teammates in each of the last 4 Finals Runs. Why is it this is the year he's carrying them? Because Kyrie isn't there to win the finals for him?

I watched MJs entire career. Please speak for yourself. LeBron is better than Jordan ever was and it's frankly not even close, in my opinion.

How many people respect folks that say that Jordan "is not even close" to being the #1 player in NBA history?

Aren't you the same guy that doesn't know the charge/block rule?

Doesn't matter, it's pointless to try to talk basketball with most Warriors fans (established 2015).

In what way? Because hes 6'8, 255 lbs and can clear the paint like a bowling ball? Im sure Jordan would've loved that physical advantage.

If you saw Jordan, and still think LeBron was better, I dont know what to tell you, besides youre wrong. Jordan was a cold blooded killer. LeBron is nothing like that.

If theres a Game 7 of the Finals, and you needed a win to save your own life, do you pick Jordan or LeBron for your team? When the chips are down, everyone would pick Jordan, because in his prime he was unbeatable. Hell or high water Jordan is leaving with the trophy. LeBron loses routinely on the biggest stage, and hes had his share of HOF talent around him.

LeBron is physically superior. He never gets hurt, and has never needed a break from the grind. But thats the only thing he has on Jordan.

- Steve Kerr on Lebron after game 1 of 2018 finals

Steve Kerr probably was born too late and didn't get to watch Jordan in his prime. Obvi.

This. Plus, he doesn't understand basketball.

As if Kerr is going to say "Meh, ive seen better." What is he supposed to say in this situation?

Kerr can just say - that was an amazing performance. Lebron has been doing it for years and leave it there. He doesn't HAVE TO say he hasn't seen anyone play better.

Agreed with your point...but in fairness, Kerr did say "I'm not sure anyone..."
