Assuming they win this year that puts him at 3 rings, 2 MVPs at 30. Career is hardly done. Magic had 5 and 3. I didn't say replace him just at some point the discussion begins.
Jordan. I love Lebron. Most unique player I have seen since Mike. But Jordan won. His teams won in the finals. I know that was more reliant on the personnel around him at that point in MJ's career, but I just do not think you can discount it, either--besides, LBJ has had some talent around him, too.

So it comes down to this for me:

Better passer, LBJ.
Better scorer, Jordan.
Better defender, Jordan, but man, oh man, LBJ has had some key stops.
Better athlete, push (Different eras defense engaged).
Better sneaker seller, Jordan (Yes, this does matter; it can serve as a barometer for popularity).
Better influence on the game, as in how it was played generation-ally, Jordan, by a nose.
Better person for his community (look what he is doing for kids), LBJ.
Better spokesmen on social issues, LBJ (Jordan has been almost scandalously quite on social issues. To his credit, no one knows what he does in the background.)
Better numbers when it is all said and done, LBJ.
Better assassin, clutch shooter, and winner on the court, Jordan.

By my lousy, unofficial, basketball metrics that no one with any real knowledge of the game should listen to the score would be: Jordan 6, LBJ 5

1. Jordan
1A. Lebron.

All in all, I think the people that are unwilling to put Lebron this high are flat out ignoring what he is doing and how he is doing it. It is like those guys that cannot fathom that Tom Brady is, at this point, better than Montana. Hell, to be honest, maybe I am one of those guys when it comes to Jordan (Yes, I just contradicted myself and my argument.)

lol good post
idk the bulls went to the playoffs without Jordan.

My question is that what would happen if you put Lebron with Pippen?

it would be "worse" because you got two guys who play the same position, and also have very similar games. Pippen complemented Jordan very well, especially on defense.

No it doesn't begin. Likely never will.

But being more athletic, selling more shoes, being better on social media, being better in the community, influencing the game, etc. all has nothing to do with who the better player is.

There seems to be a parallel argument between new generation and old generation greats. In modern day sports, athletes have better advantages with medical science and training methods. So now guys who are great for a long time, and stay healthy enough to accumulate massive numbers, get mentioned as the greatest because of longevity.

Tom Brady and LeBron James are very similar in that regard. They've been great, and for the most part totally healthy for the last 15-20 years. They keep making it to the pinnacle over and over, but lose almost as much as they win.

Joe Montana and Michael Jordan both had shorter careers, but were never defeated on the biggest stage. Both had a mystical quality. A refusal to lose with a title on the line.

Both sets of players are impressive in their own rights, but to me Montana and Jordan were better. They were at their very best in the biggest moments, and we never saw them fail in that situation. Brady and LeBron had bigger volume of attempts, and we saw them fail. Thats a HUGE deal when determining who the greatest ever was.

IMO Curry is super fun to watch but you gotta average at least close to 10apg for the prime of your career to be in discussion for all time point guard. He's more of an undersized SG playing Point.

After this year I think the discussion starts for putting Curry above Magic at pg. Starts maybe not replaces just yet.

Durant is dominating that team. If Curry was in the convo, he'd be the dominator. He's tremendously good but not in the convo with Magic. That's my take.
Jordan is the best player ever. Lebron beats out Jordan in the all around category but Jordan has a different type of switch that Lebron will never have. Kobe has that switch but Jordan was superior than Kobe in the athletic department.

Pippen would demand a trade....

Even comparing their playing styles is like apples and oranges. Imagine what Jordan could've done with LeBron's body type. If he was 2 inches taller and 40 lbs heavier like LeBron?

Like ive said, if you saw Jordan's career, you know. They're not even on the same level.

Michael Jordan played against plumbers
