#2: He has also repeatedly said Kobe > LeBron so yeah.
Yeah those exact words
Well, he also said #2....which I am sure you find to be a laughable claim right?
Yeah, im sure Michael Jordan, the most competitive athlete who has ever lived, thinks of himself as just the 3rd best player ever. Sounds like him.
You dont sense ANY sarcasm in Jordan essentially calling his entire era a joke?
Not sure if I am not comprehending your reply correctly, or if it was YOU who was not comprehending my post correctly....
But to clarify.....
My point is, even if Jordan seriously said that he played against a bunch of plumbers in his day (a quote Bron fans are using to prop Bron up because Jordan said it), he also said that Kobe > LeBron. So if the Bron fans are going to take the plumbers comment as gospel, why arent they taking the Kobe > Bron comment the same way?
Thats all I meant.
I don't think Jordan said it. If he did, it would come up in a Google search.
I dont think he did either. However if he did, its just funny that Bron fans pick and choose what statements they want to treat as fact and which ones they want to just dismiss.

First of all, it's ridiculous to put modern players in the past and say theyd dominate. Modern players are a result of the evolution of time. They had access to training methods and sports medicine that wasn't available until recently. They also had information resulting from what people learned about the game of basketball in that era. They saw how certain styles of player were defended, and were coached how to beat that strategy.
All these sensitive pace and space "freaks" of the modern day would be fish out of water in the era where hand checking, punishing defense, and half court ball ruled the game. In the 80's and 90's Giannis would've just been a C who played down low. Thats how he would've been coached growing up because of his size.
Without the evolution of the modern game, players' games would all be vastly different. Theyd all have been put into different roles, and had to develop different skillsets.
Jordan was a smaller player playing in a much tougher defensive era. He didn't have the natural advantage of being able to barrell through the paint like a bowling ball like LeBron. Players who attempted to just muscle their way to the basket back then got knocked on their ass. Today its common to see the players clear out of the way because they're all afraid of being on someone's poster.
Jordan played his entire career in the heart of the era where most of the top 50 players of all time played, and he unquestionably was the best player of his era.
This is a fantastic post.
Agreed
Lol no it wasn't
The idea that Giannis would be forced to play center is hilarious. He would dominate the 90s as a forward. He'd easily be superiorly athletic to anybody in the 90s, jordan included.
He is too skinny. He would have gotten murdered in the paint. Heck rookie Semi Ojeyle of the Celtics kept him in check in the latter games of their series and this was key to the C's winning. Semi is built like a mack truck.
Malone, Rodman, Oakley, Kemp, Olajuwon, Ewing Mason... would have pushed him around like a rag doll. He'd have to pack on some lbs.
More athletic than Jordan though Jordan had a higher vertical? And I believe Kemp was just as athletic if not more than Giannis. His in-traffic dunks were legendary. Every game to him was a dunk contest opportunity. 40 inch vertical at 6'10 240? Giannis has a 44 at 220?
Like football the NBA in the 80's and 90's was not as soft as it is today. Thinking guys that show us great movement today would get away with that when you could hand check and essentially beat up anyone in the paint back then is ridiculous. Mike dominated an era when teams could essentially beat up your best player.

Its Jordan, 6-0 in NBA Finals

Kobe Bryant was a really, really similar player to Jordan -- just not quite as athletic or efficient as Jordan. And look at what Kobe accomplished in this league all the way through 2010 -- he was a top 3 player for at least 10 seasons. It's a useful point of comparison when looking at what Jordan would do in today's league. Simply put, he would still kick @$$.
As for LeBron vs. Jordan -- someone can plausibly argue that LeBron is better (I would disagree), but saying "it's Lebron and it's not close" is foolishness. I know the stats geeks don't want to hear it, but the fact that Jordan never got beaten in his last six REAL seasons is pretty impressive. During that time he was the main reason for those titles, not Ray Allen or Draymond Green's tomfoolery or Stephen Curry's injury. Jordan was incredible in the 4th quarter and great in big situations. LeBron's signature career moment was Game 7 in 2016 -- aside from the fact that no one ever took Jordan to 7 games in the Finals, Jordan had plenty of those moments in the postseason. Unlike the JV Eastern Conference that LeBron has enjoyed since the decline and breakup of the KG-Pierce-Allen Celtics, Jordan had to contend with some heavies in the EC in the 80s and 90s. And when he got past them he had to deal with the 93 Suns, 96 Sonics and those Jazz teams with two top 20 all time players.
During LeBron's run to the Finals every year, he hasn't had to go against teams like the late 80s/early 90s Pistons, 93 Knicks, 96 Magic, 98 Pacers. Unfortunately for LeBron he has had to repeatedly go up against teams of that caliber (and better) in the Finals and he gets beat most of the time. As mentioned above, LeBron is very, very close to only having one title and he's not really all that close to having a 4th. An argument can kind of be made regarding the 2011 Finals, but that Heat team dropped four games in a row.

Well, even if Jordan said Lebron is better. Do we really trust his player evaluation? Dudes the GOAT but makes Trent Baalke look like Jerry West when it comes to building a team.

I'd say:
Jordan
Kareem
Wilt
Magic
Lebron
Kobe
Jordan is basically Montana in NBA form for me. Dude had the killer instinct like none other.

Let's not forget that Jordan got A LOT of calls when driving in the paint

Can you provide a source for the quote, with date and some context?
Who were these plumbers you keep bringing up?
I watched basketball when Jordan played. Did you?
